Here I present my first moderate success at achieving a mini-solo in 25 paragraphs. Whew! This one has yet to have any public domain artwork added, but I wanted to share it while I fiddle with that so I can release a 2nd revision with feedback AND a little bit of artwork both.
Enjoy!
This mini-solo is meant for any character no greater than Level 5. Time passes at a rate of 1 paragraph per turn, and one ST or WIZ restored per turn. Magic is restricted to those spells that apply to combat or healing unless specifically stated otherwise.
You have been given an important task of investigating a number of murders along the roads between Caer Annelsia and Port Teg. The Order of the Crimson Rose expects you to deliver either the murderer or the location of the murderer. In addition, you must also determine the motive and provide ample evidence. With these three objectives in mind, you depart from Caer Annelsia in search of clues.
During your travels through the County of Annelsia, you choose to cross through the countryside toward the Bric-Cact Desert in search of answers. Eventually, you come across a small farmstead not far from the desert. Perhaps they will provide you rest for the night, maybe a hot meal, and perhaps some useful information on the murders. After a few raps on the door of the rustic farmhouse, an old hobbit named A’grumbl steps out to greet you warmly.
“Evenin’ friend. What can I do fer ya?” asks the hobbit. You inquire about a night’s rest and food, saving your murder interrogations for later.
“Well, I don’t see why not. But ya know, I’ll give ya plenty of food and a warm bed if ya give me a hand with the farm. Maybe even a few coins in it for ya,” says A’grumbl. “My wife and son…they be comin down with a sickness of sort. Hardly get up outta bed. But I think it’s contagious ya know. So I keep ‘em safe in the cellar where it’s cooler and darker. But that means they can’t be helpin me with the farm. So come on in and maybe we can start bright and early in the mornin’.”
You accept his offer and enter the farmhouse, since this is a really small farm and to not help him would be against the very reason you are reading this adventure. Turn to 12.
Enjoy!
