No fiction. Please. Please!I cannot stress this enough. Not nearly enough. Well, if we could somehow get Ken to write some for us, his stuff is pretty nifty.

A section for Dungeon Features would be fun also, for Tricks & Traps, Riddles and Puzzles. Magic Items under some section like Arcane Bazaar, 1 Mini Solo and 1 Short GM and we'd cover a lot of the ground. Perhaps a piece of fiction each time as well. We need 32 pages minimum for POD and I think the idea of Quarterly would be awesome. So Spring 2010 would be the first deadline so start typing. Worse case we fail to get going and you submit to Fight On! . -Mike If you're content with saddle-stitch binding if it ends up less than 32 pages, than you can POD that on Lulu with only a one page minimum.

Anything is possible. We won't need to be tied to a format so if a dandy piece of fiction comes across we can put it in. A lot of fledgling authors get their first publications in fanzines. We would just need someone honest to review the story and be able to say no.
An entire issue can be a solo if we like, or a setting or just articles.

along with danhem (you back yet danny?) re: solos. Present and accounted for. I have a new solo that is ready to go and another in the works that I would love to submit to this new project. I was considering making my completed solo available on the new Lulu storefront after adding some public domain art a la JJB.

Machfront: I happen to enjoy good fiction inspired by or set in RPG worlds. I do agree ith you though that most RPG fiction is painfully bad stuff to read.
Too many writers of such tend to forget that it should be story first, game (a distant) second. KSA's Trollworld fiction is good because he doesb't worry about fitting it into the T&T rules.
My own story "Meeting With the Editor" from Hobbit Hole a couple of issues back, managed humor and parody of a certain well known fantasy novel. It was however a gag that could only be worked once. A steady diet of such would soon become quite tiresome. I well remember some stories that hung on dreadful puns.
Fiction is ok, but needs to be worth reading. I think a "Fiction Feature" would not be a good thing.

Oh... didn't know that. I happen to like saddle-stitch. -Mike Neither did I! But I wanted to test print my solo No Rest on Lulu and came across that problem. Then I start fiddling with options and then it dawned on me that there are other bindings I could do for fewer pages, even comb-binding. After rubbing my forehead from smacking it too hard, I submitted it for private access print. I hope it looks good when I get it. along with danhem (you back yet danny?) re: solos. Present and accounted for. I have a new solo that is ready to go and another in the works that I would love to submit to this new project. I was considering making my completed solo available on the new Lulu storefront after adding some public domain art a la JJB. Looking forward to trying that out! I already exhausted the solos in the last Hobbit Hole. With the rest of OP's products in question, I may have to turn back to Boozer and Hobgoblin Tavern to get a few more new ones to try. ( I have no qualms about replaying all these solos I already have, but some of my favorite characters have already done them. I only let them go through a solo each once. )

I vote for 'Trollbridge' - short, to the point, easy to remember, keeps the link with T&T and this site. Hopefully Rick will be happy to see a T&T fanzine out there, it keeps that T&T buzz going.

No fiction? What? Zines are a great medium for Fantasy Shorts. I love shorts, one of my disappointment with current fantasy writing is the stream of huge multi book series. Some of which have just enough good ideas to fill a short.

I prefer short stories, too, Quog. I'm also someone who's not at all enamored of the epic-length-epic-sized-epic-fantasy-epic-stories. But, the fact is, bad fiction is bad. I don't think I've read anything of any note, fantasy fiction-wise, in a magazine that's been published in the past two decades. Show me a zine with fiction and I'll show you cringe-worthy fiction. Find someone of the caliber of Fritz Leiber or Manly Wade Wellman or Lin Carter or Lester Del Rey or at the very, very least L. Sprague DeCamp and we'll boogie. Otherwise, I'd rather the few pages be taken up by useful beasties or maps or tables or extra rules an' options an' such. Just my two cents, is all.

lol
I'm not certain what "vet" means, but if I take your meaning correctly I fully admit to being no writer whatsoever. Heck, I'm not even good enough to be a poor critic (as detestable as those folk are). I was only voicing my view. I don't intend any horrible insult. I just know what I like and I know how many times I've had to page past fiction, wishing there'd be something cool there instead knowwhatImean?

verb ( vetted |vɛdəd|, vetting |vɛdɪŋ|) [ trans. ] make a careful and critical examination of (something).
Meaning that you have to approve any fiction that goes in the Zine.
