You guys know what I'm talking about right? The sleepy beastman has gloves and a hat, and he's just kinda sitting there yawning...
Where did that image appear? It's not in the 5th edition book...

From my PDF version of T&T 7th's Buffalo Castle:
4A You walked down a short corridor, and entered a small room 10' x 10'. There is a troll sitting on a treasure chest. He is looking at you in a bored fashion. If you wish to fight him, go to 7A. If you wish to try to talk to him, go to 14A. If you wish to try to walk by him, go to 18A. This is room number four.

It's also in the Buffalo Castle reprint that's in the back of 5.5E manual. Paragraph 6H I think.

I never cared for Buffalo Castle at all, but I always like the illustration, mainly because of those maze-designed gauntlets. Now, I know how you guys are... don't go and make up a quick write-up of these as magic items and proceed to call them "A-Maze-ing"...somthing. I feel I need an antacid already.

Hey, that's the first time I noticed the maze gloves! Cool.
I'll always have a fondness for the rooms of Buffalo Castle, but never liked how it was laid out (and that godawful maze).
I used to play this one with my sons - I've re-hashed it twice, first as a set of cards and then as a sort of snakes&ladders/ludo type dungeon dash. Was always good fun.

I don't suppose you'd like to share the cards and the boardgame?? I'm quite the fan of Buffalo Castle myself (fond memories as the first TnT solo i ever played) so, i'd love to see anything they've inspired.

Running-The Gauntlets As soft leather gauntlets (weight 1 WU; 1 armor point each) but with steel spikes on knuckles (+1 add in unarmed combat) - wearer gets 1 level less on SRs to find their way through mazes, catacombs, etc.

I had never even noticed the pattern on those gauntlets!

LOL You're a terrible person. ;D Cool magic item, though. Which reminds me, I really must get around to finishing the dungeon that I was working on, entitled The Crystal Gauntlet...

Ironically, I was running my friend through Buffalo Castle the other day as a pick-up game and thought afterward that I should map it out to turn it into a real DM keyed adventure.
I never realized what a pain it was to keep track of the intersections and room numbers. However I am about 3/4ths done. Maybe I will post it soon.
My favorite is the room that opens to the elemental plane of buffalo out of nowhere.
