So it's more of a probability calculator than a GM emulator?? Does the whole product come packaged with any charts you might use with the included ruleset for mythic? If so is it specifically tailored to any particular genre? You can think of it as an arbiter. Though when running a prefab adventure it can be said that the flesh and blood GM spends most of his time arbitrating with some riffing on the theme. When playing with the GM Emulator the players provide the theme on which the GM Emulator riffs. It does so through use of the Chaos subsystem. The material that comes with the core GM Emulator is supportive of the Fate Chart, the standard Chaos Indicator subsystem, event focus, event meaning, and the event subject table. The expansion Mythic Variations brings more to the table to explicitly support genres such as horror, action adventure, and so on. It does so by providing custom "focus tables" for each genre and tweaking the various movable bits. Variations also gives guidelines for asking more complex questions beyond yes/no. And it provides support for "off camera" stories to help build stories that feel very epic.

Well, it has to be said i'm still unsure on how i feel about the GM Emulator... So i picked up a copy.
Was this a rational course of action? Well, yeah. If you don't know what your dealing with, you dont learn purely from research, you have to jump in there and get your feet/dice wet because, no matter what you read, it cant prepare you for the experience.
That said, i wont be opening it up to play till later as it is now time to sleep!
I think i'll run the psudo-Firetop scenario to break it in and see how it plays. The cliches should lend itself well and, if all else fails, having played the actual Warlock of Firetop mountain several times will give me a story-line to fall back on. For example, i know i need to collect keys, the purple gem would be useful, orcs are common place in the first section, undead in the second, the labrynth is a pain even with a map and, Zagor is a proper bad a**!... But will these elements come out in play with the fate chart? Who knows!?
I'll be sure to report back. :0).

Cool. :0). Any advice from having run adventures through Mythic? The best advice that I can give is to go along for the ride. If you feel like you're bogging down roll on the Event Focus and Meaning tables. It's like carb cleaner shot into a sputtering engine.

Well after a manic week, i finally get to take a break from everything and, for the first time in a few months i get to do some gaming!
Mad when you think about it. I spend so much time writing of late that i rarely get to enjoy th efruits of my labour and, it's been some time since i last rolled up a character for play! So, today is prep. I still plan to run a mythic game to see just how well it works but, before i can start i need to print me off a copy... 148 pages... Hmmmm, make that, first i need to cut out the bits i need into a seperate PDF and print that off.
If anyone wants to throw a scene, monster, treasure or idea into the mix, feel free. If you dont, feel free to do that too. ;D

Coming back to Tunnels and Trolls after many years, I have been thinking of trying it out with the Mythic GM Emulator.
For those of you who use the GM Emulator with T&T do you have any specific encounter/treasure tables that you use? I have seen some for Labyrinth Lord that break the encounters into dungeon, wilderness, sea, desert, # appearing..etc. I havn't found anything like that for T&T except for some of the small encounter tables in some of the solos.
After reading through the thread I was curious if Eisenmann had a specific table(s) he used.
Thanks! GreenDragon68

I'm not sure if this is the sort of thing that you are looking for, but Aaron Thorne (aka Trollbridge member lionrampant) has a random dungeon generator that has some monster tables based on level. You can find it here: www.geocities.com/~athorne/trolls/troll2.htmHe also has other stuff available, including a solo and a GM adventure.

Mahrundl, Thank you for the link! That definitely helps to give some ideas.
I'd still like hear from some who use mythic with T&T and what tables and such they are using. I'm probably going to come up with my own tables as well but if anyone has some that they use with great success please share.
In the original post Eisenmann mentions Goblins. Sounds like he had a great time using Mythic with T&T. I'd love to hear how he came up with them and what tables he used. His posting about Mythic and Swords&Wizardry sounded great as well. I blieve he used tables from OSRIC for that one.
Unfortunately much of the postings/reviews about Mythic I've come across have a summary on how it played but no details in what they rolled and what tables they referred to.

I generally use random tables mostly for inspiration, and that's what I look to Mythic for too. I posted some of the resources I've found useful on this thread about Solo Campaigning. The only time I've used Mythic for a solo with T&T, I didn't use a table for the encounters-- I started with the premise that my character woke up in a cell and didn't know where he was or who took him there. The rest followed from asking questions on Mythic's own Fate Chart and applying some imagination to the results. It worked fine. I set the MR of the one monster I had to fight by asking the Fate Chart for a general threat level, and then rolling a commensurate amount of dice for to determine the monster rating, just as if I were rolling up ability scores; I think I got a MR in the 70s or 80s-- it was a tough solo fight! When I found items, I figured out their general nature using the Fate Chart, and then picked specific items by rolling dice on the appropriate equipment lists. What I would do now is decide on a general theme for the adventure first and create my own random encounter tables if it seemed appropriate to the theme. What I use Mythic for most is to generate material during my prep as a GM. Tomorrow I plan to play T&T in the car with my daughter and nephew while we're traveling, and I might use the GM emulator a bit to flesh out stuff that I prepared quickly tonight using Doc Rotwang's Adventure Funnel; but at this point I doubt I'll need it. One thing I'd like to do next time I'm using the Mythic GME with T&T is check for interrupts during "near missed" Saving Rolls. The 7th edition rules suggest that you add your character's level to any failed SR, and if it hits the target number you didn't fail after all. I never remember to actually use this rule, but I like the idea of using it as a "success with complication", and I think it would be cool to check the GME for an unforeseen complication when that happens. [Edit: Fix bbcode.]

Gaptooth,
Thanks for the tips and advice!
I forgot about that other thread (solo campaign). There's some info in there that can help as well.

Also, I'll dig out my campaign world's random events table and post it (sometime this weekend, I hope).

Thanks for the link. A lot of tables in there to check out. Would love to see your campaign world's random events table whenever you get a chance to post it. I've been thinking of creating some large(r) random encounter tables based on location such as dungeon, desert, mountain etc when I can muster up some time. Problem is I have a honey-do list and each time I think I've widdled it to a respectible number, more pop up! I'm sure some can relate to that..
