As a GM I would have okayed the purchase. It's these odd things that tend to go down in the group's 'gaming history'. How you actually managed your new career as goat herder might have been interesting though?

The odd thing is, that it might've played better into the 'GM-created plot' if the goat-buy had been okayed...

This sort of thing can throw off even a top notch GM. As future reference for GMs...a goat (or any animal )is an NPC. The GM controls it. PC 'Send the goat down the tunnel and see what happens' *shoves goat into tunnel* Goat 'BLEAT BLEAT BLEAT BLEAT'*goat runs away from scary smelly darkenss* Sounds from darkeness 'mmm sounds like supper...come on fellas!'*heavy foot steps* or After a well deseved rest in the wilderness you discover that all of the leather straps on your armor have been chewed through, your food has been eaten and your helmet is full of poo. *goat looks on contentedly*
Yes, a thousand and one uses for goats...and twice as many problems.

Yeah, that GM missed out on a golden opportunity in my opinion. Often times, players want something thinking only of the benefits and nothing of the drawbacks. I guess referees do it to. Heck, what am I saying? We all do it in everyday life.
"She's hot. Her silly attitude is actually sorta charming, and I can get over the fact that she listens to really inane music."

"Hot" trumps everything initially.

I agree Cranks. One brain cell is quite enough when the hotness factor is sufficiently high. Of course with that combination of intellect and hotness, I don't stand a chance. Good job I'm already married and really shouldn't be thinking of hotness. Unless it's the trollwife in a basque.

As to the OP: Yes, the DM was a phallus-cranium. His later actions as described drive that point home like a nailgun drives a roofing nail.
As to hotness: Hot's only so good so long as she doesn't need to find out where you live. Hell, psycho hose-beasts of doom are a problem... and hot chicks who go for gamers usually qualify.

Herd of goats! Classic, truly should have been handled better because there was a huge amount potential fun there.
