Guess the driver did not make his L5SR on LK!

Very skeptical. Several aspects of this account sound dodgy. The poster is a newb to the ODD74 forum with only a handful of posts, and Bulgarian. How a Bulgarian got this news item before anyone Stateside is sketchy. He got it from Pookie: I’ve confirmed that much with Pookie himself, so the post as it stands and the posters credibility are not in doubt. As to whether the actual information is correct… Well, Pookie can’t confirm the source, it’s just what he heard at GenCon. Edit: Apparently heard from the people who should have been sharing a stand with FBI.

It seems bizarre that such a thing could scupper or derail the game but stranger things have happened... Edit: Not a truck carrying FBI books! It gets my mind whirling with ideas. A 'Trollbridge Press' publishing set up with Print on Demand through drive thru with variant/based on/using some of the T&T rules (and clearing up some of the less good ones - you know who I'm looking at Missile weapons) with new solos/linked Solos (to form a Lone Wolf style story) and so on. Or club together and buy the rights to the T&T name/game and get things up and running again. Re-scan/layout the PDFs (I have all the rules but some of the older stuff is decidely fuzzy), shrink the rules down, box set etc etc. If this story is true the Webbed Sphere lot will have to start from scratch. We've seen nothing creative from them thus far and this may kill any enthusiasm they have for dabbling with RPGs, even encouraging them to sell at a bargain price to recoup losses. Who knows? Stranger things have happened...

The person the original poster stated that he heard the story from. Pookie is responsible for the Reviews from R’lyeh site and has worked as editor for a lot of RPG products from various publishers.

What a disaster. It's like there is a curse or something.

Hopefully the truck and contents were insured, and the insurance company pays out the claim.

I hope the driver was sacked. Utterly careless.
Between tax write-offs and insurance, WS could recoup a lot of losses. Maybe use the money to do targeted reprints. Or a new low-entry-cost rule book.

Sacking the driver might be a bit harsh. Chances are it was a hire truck being driven by a FB staff member who was unfamiliar with the vehicle, not fully aware of its exact height, and not accustomed to driving a vehicle where height warnings actually matter. There's an infamous bridge in Melbourne where this happens with disturbing frequency. But yes, I hope they had insurance.

Used to be my uncle's job to inspect railway bridges after they had got hit by trucks and decide when it was safe to let train services recommence. It was a right pain and cost huge sums of money (and inconvenienced thousands of passengers) for the sake of a few seconds' thought.
In a more optimistic vein, if all the old stock has been destroyed this is a perfect opportunity for a new edition of the rules...

There's an infamous bridge in Melbourne where this happens with disturbing frequency. There's one in Durham, North Carolina, too. The famous 11' 8" Bridge, a.k.a. The Canopener Bridge. Which is actually 12' 4" after it was raised 8" a few years back. Folks still run into it. From what I've read, so many folks have hit the bridge with rental trucks that the rental agencies in the area actually have a clause in their contract specifically calling the bridge out and damage incurred there-from not covered by their insurance, if you opted in to the agency's insurance. There are, as of this post, 176 videos on the YT! channel documenting the various encounters in physics between an irresistible force meeting an immovable object. The FAQ page might answer some questions that come up.

In a more optimistic vein, if all the old stock has been destroyed this is a perfect opportunity for a new edition of the rules... We could all use a hit to that vein these days. The question is, does WS have the means, motive, opportunity to undertake such an ambitious feat? I hope they ramp up their PR capabilities, 'cause what little they've done to communicate with the consuming public has yet to inspire any confidence.

They still have the digital editions up for sale online, so there is that. If they are in trouble we could help them out by buying something.

I've been thinking of scanning and laying out T&T 5.5 for a while for personal use. Already working on an improved scan/from scratch layout of Basic D&D (the red box version) for a personalised hardback to give to my son for his birthday next year. That's my priority but it wouldn't take long to knock out 5.5 so it might be worth offering that to them to sell. Would there be any interest in that or does everyone have 'all the T&T they'll ever need'?

I am not directly connected to WebbedShere but I know they have every intention of doing things with T&T. I will just say this as a comparison: Old Flying Buffalo was a very small ship which made it easy to get crew, highly manuverable and thus it was easy to change directions or just sail to any port it could reach.
Many larger companies are are more like ocean liners. They can carry a lot and can can go very far, but turning on a dime and making quick course changes is not what ocean liners are known for. A big ship has to plan its course, make sure it has lots of supplies, do lots of safty checks and a find a lot of crew members. This is especially true of a brand new ocean liner that is trying to get ready to make its first cruise. New Flying Buffalo is that ocean liner. So we will all have to be paitent and see when they will launch...
