Because of my tendency towards verbal diarrhoea 50 rooms would be a huge adventure. I normally figure about 7-10 paragraphs per "room", though I am trying to get more disciplined about this. CW: Stating the obvious.
This is why I love getting creative with matrices and combining options ("Pick the lock L2-SR on DEX or bash it L2-SR STR" on sending them to the same success/failure paragraphs) I did warn you, he says weakly.

Ideally 50 to 60 "rooms" is a good target. Because of my tendency towards verbal diarrhoea 50 rooms would be a huge adventure. I normally figure about 7-10 paragraphs per "room", though I am trying to get more disciplined about this. You've got a game book style. I get that, it's hard to downscale descriptive narrative especially when shooting for a certain type of "feel." Game booking is a great way to create an adventure, it's quality that's important not the number of rooms.

View AttachmentThis whole thing came to me, quite literally in a dream, on Christmas Eve. I think I've been spending too much time with the Adventurers Compendium. It's pretty trivial, and obviously thrown together in great haste, but I hope it is worth a brief read. I'm enjoying so far; although I'm in a pinch with some spiders for the moment. Life's hard for Delvers with abysmally low dexterity and speed!

Years (now decades?) ago, I had a program that worked with source text in a game book format. I reckon anyone versed in HTML could easily produce a hyperlinked document version of such a book.
A fancier approach would be to use an Interactive Fiction authoring tool such as Inform or TADS. What they have for an RPG in terms of data structures and random number generation seems to be rather buried in the documentation, but I’ll bet it’s included somewhere in the system.
Kerkerkruip is basically a Roguelike IF; I don’t know what the development environment is.
Even if you don’t have the program handling mechanics, the parsing of natural language input might be an interesting change from the simple menu of choices at each decision point in a “pick your path” book.

When, it was a while ago, I write solos I usally use word, and create hyperlinks for for paragarphs, appendices and such. It works kind of well I think.

Something with a little bit of a M!M! flavour. The Anourial Stone.pdf (252.26 KB) It was supposed to have pictures but because I'm rubbish at drawing I made a little card model of the temple. Turns out I am also rubbish at making models. But this may help give you the basic shape. .

Well my drawing skills are at the level of making figures at the level of a four year old; you know just a head and two legs (hm maybe that would be a good t&t monster?), so no criticism from my side! I will try your adventure when I have the chance.

When I get round to it I'll add some illustrations to the above solo. For the time being here is a basic line drawing of the temple. The Anourial will have its own drawing, but that takes a little more skill (well I could Photoshop a little sword on to a stock picture of a frog...) There is a follow up adventure in draft form. Plus some background detail on Anourial society in general. As soon as I'm working on something more substantial than a phone I'll pull it together.
