A warm hello and greetings from the otherwise cold area in Connecticut, USA where I currently live. I'm no stranger to RPGs but I've only been running games for around 4 years now. I'd like to say that I started out with T & T, but that would be a lie. In fact, the games I've run before discovering the awesomeness of Tunnels and Trolls just few short months ago are: Dragon Age, Fate, Don't Rest Your Head, Four Against Darkness and Bean! the d2 RPG. The latter, Jeff Freels's Bean!, is what made me so interested in learning more about Tunnels and Trolls. I learned about Ken St. Andre and his work through the introductions in the Bean! rules as well as Jeff's solo adventure Z-Town. Having a soft spot for Jeff's work and needing more of it, I quickly looked to the creator and game that inspired Jeff so much!
I found a few really neat interviews of Ken St. Andre online and his enthusiasm for the game he created is contagious!!! I really enjoyed listening about his personal history with fantasy and how Tunnels and Trolls came about. Very interesting indeed! It wasn't too long after that, that I purchased Deluxe Tunnels and Trolls, a map of Trollworld, a GM screen and the adventure Trollhammer from Flying Buffalo's website. I've also downloaded all the free material I could get for this game from Drive Thru RPG and even payed for a couple, like A Beginner's Guide to Tunnels & Trolls: The Necropolis of Death by Thomas H Pugh and the Adventurer's Compendium (both of which were amazing to get up and running with the system prior to receiving my hardcover book).
Needless to say, I am hooked! Furthermore, in my mind, it's criminal that at the age of 35 now, it took me this long to discover this particular role playing game. I mean, it's just the 2nd ever role playing in existence... I hate the fact that I'm just now finding out about it, but such is life. It's always better late than never. This game and system has everything that I'd ever want in a fantasy RPG and the works of Jeff Freels also reminds me that with a little thought, how versatile this system Ken created truly is. With a little modding, you could use this system to run virtually any setting in an action oriented/cinematic style of gameplay!
Sorry for such a long introduction guys. I'll end this in saying that this is the start of what I hope is a very long love affair with this game. I would love to maybe one day put my creativity to the test and add to the existing lore of Trollworld with some fantastic adventures of my own or some other contribution to this epic game!

It's a little home-brew of mine with a coffee and ummm... secret ingredient or two base... L96SRLk or spend the next eighteen to twenty-four hours as a bizarre mixture of little brown bat and standard yard rabbit... While believing you're in a place where mushroom-smoking caterpillars and dormice talk, and there's a cat that keeps leaving it's grin ALL over the place...

Welcome industrialchild great to have you here at the Bridge. The other Trolls are very nice and if you have any queries they are happy to help. There is no problem with necroing old threads - we enjoy the hit of nostalgia. On a good day we can even disagree with our former selves Also check out Trollszine, it's free you know!

As long as we don't actually start arguing with our former or current selves, no harm done!

So, heya.
I'm a longtime gamer of TOG1e who started playing these games before reading and writing just like my nephew and niece who I then taught decades later.
I've moved on and my game of choice is Lejendary Adventure. I can break down the world into LA characters and mechanics sort of like Neo seeing the Matrix (I also love Silhouette which is a d6 system and ORE).
When I go back to TOG, I don't play 1e anymore, I've digressed to Holmes - BlueHolme in particular although I add some bells & whistles from HackMaster 4e.
I only saw TnT once in a little silver tin at my FLAGS years ago and regretted not buying it however at the time it seemed so very expensive. My guess is that was 7 or 7.5?
I had never heard of it before. It wasn't until the Free RPG Japan book came out that I showed interest. Not because I'm into Japan as much as my SO is very much into Japan. For her I've modified many games to have Japanese flavour and spent time learning their history and culture as best I can - which is still not nearly enough. I'd love to play their Sword World RPG.
TnT started to spark something in me. I can't see the world in TnT as I can in LA yet, but hopefully someday. The gigantic d6 pools have yet to settle in my mind.
I do not own a TnT rulebook, just a few Free RPG Day copies and today received MS&PE along with DotB and CotB.
Well I do own the 1e PDF but to me that doesn't really count.
I like the feel of TnT but I'm still in the early stages. A lot will depend on whether it's simple for my players, easy to run, and quick to make characters.
The MetaArcade app is very enjoyable.
I sort of have a crappy blog (not always about gaming) at furiouslyeclectic.com where I've learned to hate Drupal.
So, hi!

Hello! Welcome.
The dice problem can be addressed by Ken's house rule: let 1 die stand for x dice, where x = whatever number needed. So if you need to roll 30D, roll (for example) 3D and multiply the sum by 10. This is fast and has the further advantage of getting rid of the averaging effect of rolling multiple dice; skewing your results in sometimes entertaining ways.

The gigantic d6 pools have yet to settle in my mind. Welcome, kersus! The dice pools never settle. They are always bubbling, roiling, and rolling (mostly 1s and 2s for me, alas)!

Welcome kersus. I have enjoyed your posts on the site, I look forward to reading more. If you like the approach of KISS (and who is not a Gene Simmonds fan? ) then T&T was designed with that in mind. You may wish to splash out for a pdf of 5e. That is still regarded as the publishing high point for T&T and there is probably a plurality of people on this site for whom it is their favourite edition. 7e/7.5e and dT&T give enjoyable elaborations on that tight framework. On the less pricey side there is the most excellent Trollszine, which is both free and a labour of love by bridge dwellers and others, and offers all kinds of goodies for the keen gamer. I hope you have fun here and continue to explore T&T.

Well I saw a bridge and thought you gotta hang with some trolls. I got into this from the Bundle of holding that was held a while back. Best gaming money I have spent in a while. I have been enjoying deluxe playing some solos. Tought I would drop in and say hi.
