Yes, welcome Ramsen!
I admit to not really doing my part to keep the Trollbridge active of late, for which I am sorry. Hopefully soon I'll be back into the swing of things.

It's very difficult to keep posting all the time Mahrundl. I recently went through a couple of weeks of not posting or logging-in. It comes and goes.

Oh, I know that. I still find it annoying when my motivation level drops that low though.

Don't worry, Mahrundl. We'll still be here waiting for your full-time return. And we won't forget who you are, either. My last lull was 2 years long! Okay, admittedly, everyone forgot who I was during that time, and I reciprocated. But hey, I got a warm welcome when my motivation returned, so it worked out.

Motivation? HA!!! I find that it's the whole "salaryman" thing that gets in the way.

I just hate it when "real life" gets in the way of what's truly important. :-)

I second that Ahnn Uuh! There seems to be a heck of a lot of 'real life' going on at the moment, and it ain't all pleasant...

I'm Glurd, code name Evan Hunsley, a young troll with a penchant for taking long vacations from the splendor of Trollhalla. I am three things at heart: a writer, a researcher, and a gamer.

I Kopf from Ohio. I joined this forum as it is the most active T&T forum these days. Been in and out of T&T since '82.

Well...
My name is Scott Chisholm. I'm an active duty Commander (O-5/Lieutenant Colonel equivalent for you get-muddy types) in the U.S. Navy. I am from South Texas, and am currently stationed and live in Corpus Christi. I think I am the only person in Corpus Christi (or South Texas, for that matter) who knows what T&T is, so I am not part of an active group. The Local Game Store (the only one around for 150 miles) does D&D, 40k and other such products that do not capture my imagination.
I was introduced to fantasy/RPGs back in 1977 by a friend who got me hooked on The Fantasy Trip. When that product died, I drifted around until I read a Space Gamer article about converting TFT characters to Tunnels and Trolls. The guy writing the article must have been a kindred spirit....
It took some doing, but I found a copy of T&T, and became immediately addicted. After several years' effort, I managed to find all of the solos and one of the minis (Circle of Ice, I think. I can never remember!)
My degree is in Computer Science, not that I have had much opportunity to keep up with it over the past 21 years. A long-term project I have been working on is writing a game engine that will let me play the solos on a computer as text adventures. A very on-again, off-again project. My character generation routine just got trashed by the 7E rule set. Since that is about all I had working, I'm pretty much back to square one. If I ever get the character generation routine running, I will make it available to y'all (had to slip that in!) to tear apart.
Regards,
Skaat

Ooh, a Navy troll! Ogre likes a troll in uniform. And appreciates him too.

Dandelion,
Thanks for your words of appreciation. In 21 years, I've been spat at, belittled for "not making more of myself", derided for "not being smart enough to make it in the "real world" (my GPA at Texas A&M was 3.43), called a baby killer during Desert Storm, and, Jesse Jackson once refused to shake my hand (as if I cared) while I was in uniform.
Words of appreciation still embarrass me, but they are greatly appreciated. My wife and son have withstood a lot over the years, something many do not realize. They are the true heros. I do it for the money (and love of country); they do if for love of me.
Regards,
Skaat

Great of you to hang with us, Skaat. I'm sure you won't get any of that attitude here. Most of us are too polite ;-) A few of us are into similar projects to automate T&T solo play. What language/platform are you doing your project in?
Kind regards, ~Verdius

Skaat, I've heard those kinds of disrespect and bad attitude too, and never understood it. I have nothing but profound respect and admiration for anyone in the military, and anyone willing to live the lifestyle alongside their spouses and family members. My father was a Navy man and he passed on certain values and perspectives to me. Not to say I fully understand what it's like; just that I have enough of a clue to avoid degenerating into the forms of ignorance you mentioned. Don't the spitters and haters know what their lives would be like if not for people like yourself? Probably not, sadly. And appreciation embarrasses everybody. (Khayd'haik got me good this morning by fawning over my novel.) So deal. Nyeah. In fact maybe I'll embarrass you even more by exalting you. Could happen. (Ogre likes exalt button.)

I was trying to think of a Troll sea-men gag, but alas, I couldn't cum up with a punchline.* Anyhoo, welcome along Skaat! *I apologise profusely for the terrible joke. I don't know what came over me. .....no wait, that's not what I meant....
