The gill men are in retreat, but Charles does not care. He catches one as it turns to run and rams his shield into its back while stabbing it with his sax.
Charles free attack: 6+4+5=15

Alwyn will cast the Penetrating Laceration of Koth again (if this is a new round).

Poncho incapacitates one of the fleeing gill-men with a well placed arrow through the abdomen (damage 10) and Charles hews the leg off another (damage 10). Quinlan's trident merely rips the back of the last one (damage 6), but combined with Alwyn's powerful curse (damage 14), the gill-man explodes in a crimson cloud of blood and guts.
All the gill-men tumble into the water and Charles leaps after, slicing and cleaving until the cool water soothes his madness. When he pulls himself up, an assortment of body parts bob in the red stained water.
(105 EP each from the battle + the usual EP's from SR's and spells.)

Quinlan: "Magnificent battling and sorcery my friends. Pretty soon we're going to come across a huge haul of loot that will make the bloodshed seem all the more wothwhile. I can feel it in my feathers. Glad to have you back Charles, I thought we'd lost you to the madness for a moment there. If that every happens to me, you know what to do..."

Drugan halls himself up the wall and grabs a fallen trident to steady himself with and yanks the necklace off the gill-man officer.
"One more trinket for the loot bag"
While he has the chance Drugan will carefully make his way around the circumference of the room examining the walls, floor and ceiling and looking for any unusual disturbances or marking that might indicate hidden passages, trapdoors, or secret compartments.
I'll go ahead and generate a SR in case one is called for. 4+2+14 for IQ =20 if there is anything to detect

Try to knock your hat off? no,no - not a good idea. Dash of cold water seemed to help Charles return to sanity. By Halgun Heggs, I am exhausted! My ring is warm from overuse - my sax too great a burden to swing...With water everywhere, how do we get good rest? Perhaps we could try to return to the room with the statue - in the hopes that all those doors that resisted us would also keep the beasts at bay...

Quinlan: "A good dose of Heggish wisdom never goes astray Verklud. Let's regroup at the statue room and rest a while."

Melanthios: "How many of those necklaces do we have? Do we have one for each of us? I wonder if what we did wrong the last the time we were in the statue room was that not all of us were wearing them."

Verklud: Could be so, Melanthios. I believe that I still have the one we gained by our first encounter with them.

Charles drags himself from the limb-filled pool of water. His stagger a bit and his shield drops from his grasp as he is now too weak to carry the large mass of wood and iron.
He stands there covered in water in gore for a few moments then awareness returns.
"Has anyone seen my spear? Oh, there it is. Hmmm, I seem to have misplaced my shield as well."
Eventually regaining his composure he agrees with the need to rest. "However we are out of food. We should return to the ground floor ofthe tower where there are provisions and wine."

Drugan immediatly perks up with a feriousious little gleam in his eye.
"Wine!"
"Now how did I miss that, I haven't had wine in months"
"That should restore my flagging spirits"
OOC: Drugan will hold onto his new trident seeing as he has almost burnt out his cudgel/makeshift staff.

Quinlan: "Excellent idea Charles. Let's return to the ground floor. Until your strength recovers, allow me to carry your shield and spear. T'would be an honour."

Drugan's thorough examination yields nothing.
(So, where will you be going? Edit: Hadn't noticed Hogscape's last post.)
