I'll have to look around. I'm pretty sure that you can download most of the Star Frontiers and TFT books online. Try this! for the Star Frontiers books. Not sure where I found the other stuff, though.... www.starfrontiersman.com has everything that was published for Star Frontiers, but in a 'restored' version. It's all free of course. It's also 'published' 7 fanzines (also for free).

Thanx for the Star Frontiers links, I used to love this game too! I still have my old books somewhere, the pdfs will to be nice back-ups and gap-fillers for my collection.

*sigh* I wish I still owned Melee and Wizard. I houseruled the thing to death, but still, I owned it as a troubled youth and it still has a warm spot in my heard. If you are looking for TFT stuff, you could do worse than looking at the Metagaming section here, as well as in the Roleplaying section further down the page.. Also, if you have the physical products but want electronic copies, try here. The site that once hosted the largest collection of TFT products that I have encountered has now shut down, alas! And I can't even access it through the Wayback Machine...

As of today I am the proud owner of a very nice copy of Melee and a copy of Wizard both for The Fantasy Trip. What is the story with the "Advanced" versions of these rules?

As far as I can remember (and when it comes to TFT I only have vague recolections of moving cardboard heroes over blue hexe maps sometime in '79/80) Advanced turns the game from singular micro games into one game called The Fantasy Trip. You prolly want to get InThe Labyrinth as well. I seem to remember that being a big par of TFT. EDIT: This Link will tell you waht you need to know.

Thx Zendog. Very informative. I do not think I will hunt down the Advanced versions. The little combat system is very cool. Dark City Games has actually expanded TFT with their Legends of the Ancient World set. It is very elegant and simple. Perfect for a generic miniatures game or for an evening of dungeon crunching.

Luckily, I haven't gone through this phase in quite a few years; probably a symptom of having a job that required travel abougt 75% of the year, and therefore little time for gaming. Back in college, though, I bought all sorts of crazy Metagame and micro-press stuff that I have still never actually played, all these years later.
Not that I don't troll eBay from time to time looking for stuff... you know, just to pass the time. Yeah, that's it, to pass the time...

BTW - one of the games available for download is "The Return of the Stainless Steel Rat".
It's a pretty interesting solitaire programmed paragraph game in that it's a who-dun-it where the identity of the villain is randomized at the beginning of the game so it plays differently each time.
I've been thinking of adapting the way the game handled this into either a T & T or MSPE solitaire adventure. I'm really surprised that something like this has never been used since this game was published. It's pretty ingenious.
