Folks, Some sad news. Apparently Gary Gygax passed away a few hours ago. Whether you're a fan of his works or not, the fact that we have T & T today, as well as many other fine games, is at least in part due to his work in the early days of the hobby. I for one will mourn his passing.

Thanks for posting this. Does anyone have a link?
I agree with everyone here... regardless what you think of his personal work, he created a legacy that changed our lives, and for that, he has my eternal respect and gratitude.

Thank you Gary, you opened Pandoras box, and changed my life.
My thoughts go to your family.

I am so sad right now. Gygax's works introduced me to rpgs and helped make me the person i am today. I never got to meet him, but I was able to thank him on the Dragonsfoot message board a couple of years ago and he replied graciously. He struck me as being a true gentleman. My sympathies go out to his family and friends.
Regards,
V

Guess he ran out of Hit Points.
I played D&D in the late 80s. Good memories.

Without D&D to be inspired by(and then rebel against), Ken St. Andre might never have created T&T...and even those who never played D&D would be the poorer for it. In fact, there's a decent chance RPGs as we know it may have never come to fruition-no Gamma World, Traveller, Vampire, Runequest, Palladium, Warhammer FRP....I shudder to think of it!
Gary Gygax really started something.

I started on OD&D and it's still my favorite (witnews h 5E T&T up there pretty close) and this really made me sad.
In addition to 30+ years of gaming, I've infected my wife and children with the gaming bug. Gygax touched my life in so many ways he knew nothing about. I simply cannot imagine how I would have turned out if it weren't for gaming.
I have the same feelling as when Roger Zelazny passed on. It's hard when you realize that you'll never again get new and original material from a favorite author.

Too true, Vin. When I realised that yet again I had lost the chance to tell someone how much they had affected my life, I decided that I needed to make sure that another one didn't 'get away'. So I went to Trollhalla and spoke my thanks to Ken for T & T.
