Quinlan: I'll attack asap, can someone roll my combat dice (2 + 5). A free attack doubled is too good to miss.

Alwyn is severely weakened by his spell, and would be useless in combat. He'll stay out of the way unless attacked, and will keep the spell up unless someone tells him not to.

Only Charles and Melanthios manage to pierce the King's scaly hide with their spears before the melee begins (damage: 4 and 5). The King quickly recovers from his surprise and defends himself vigorously (HPT: 44).

OOC: He has 20+ points of armor! And he is magic resistant. Drugan Vorpals Charles weapons and attempts to make his way around the edges of the combat to get behind the gill-king beast thing.

OOC: He has 20+ points of armor! No, please acquaint yourself with the rules for missile combat:
1. Roll the monsters dice, if the roll is higher than the shooters DEX + LK the shot misses or does no damage. 2. If hit, subtract the monsters roll (in step 1.) from the shooters HPT.
PS: Vorpalling Melanthios or Quinlan's 2 dice weapons would be more optimal.

OOC: Actually I thought the plan was for the spell casters to each Vorpal one of the fighters, If we're not doing that I'll Vorpal Quinlan's weapons.

"Drop the veil Alwyn!!"
Sensing victory Poncho leaps in to attack the King in a frothing frenzy. "Huzzah!"
2d6 (3+3) = 6 (goes berserk) + (6+4) = 16 doubled to 32

Charles attacks the giant walking fish with his sax but does not yet feel the anger rising inside of him.
1d6+5+1 3+5+1=9
OOC: We've at least beat his 44 so far, let's just hope the southern door holds.
Who exactly has been vorpalled this turn?

The gill-man king is no match for your magic and tactics. Poncho and Melanthios unleash their fury, paying no heed to personal safety, so that Quinlan, aided by Charles, can move in for the final blow, severing the Kings head from its shoulders (HPT: 129). The head hits the ground, sending the golden crown spinning across the floor. The battle is over. There are a few thumps on the southern door, but Varklud's spell keeps it impenetrable. Drugan examines the weird sword and finds that it exudes a strong anti-magical aura. Poncho picks up the crown, it is far too large for any human to wear (200 wu, it looks a bit like this, but it is gilded, with eight tips and the sides are higher). OOC: Alwyn dropped the veil and Drugan vorpalled Quinlan's sword. That's 76 EP each + whatever the m-u's get for spent ST. The sword is indeed a Kris (very rare in the Old World).

Charles stands over the now headless body of the gill man chief.
"Well that was easy wasn't it?" He gives the body a swift kick for good measure then once again retrieves his spear.
"Let's secure this loot," Charles says eying the sword and crown. "Those sure beat slimy cups and plates. Did you say there were more gill men with him and a prisoner to boot? The southern door seems secure for now, what say we press on and see what other loot these gill men have to offer; and maybe then set this man free? We can mop up the rest later. After they see the body of their big fish here they may just turn tail and run."
