Quinlan: "Let's get his head on a spear quick smart. That should put the fear of, of, um, us into them!"

Drugan kneels on the gill-kings chest and quick as a shot he cuts under the ribs reaches up into the cavity and with a mighty jerk rips the heart from it's breast.
"What say someone kneels by the side of the door with a trident one off us will stand here above the beasts body to lure them in"
"We'll trip the catfish as they come in and butcher them on the floor like they did these poor fellows in this abattoir"
Saying this Drugan points to the poor unfortunates that hang from the hooks in the hellish kitchen.

Melanthios: "Good plan! Now let's slaughter those gilled bastards."

Charles grabs his spear and crouches by the door and the rest of the warriors line up behind him. Varklud releases the enchantment from the door and it immediately springs open, revealing a still smoking officer and one live foot soldier, the other lies burnt to a crisp behind them.
When they catch sight of their dead king and Drugan with his grisly trophy they go pale with fright and turn on their heels. Poncho and Melanthios barge after them, venting their rage in roaring battle cries. A few minutes later the two companions return with trophies of their own.
OOC: That's another 48 EP for everyone and one more gill-man necklace on the pile (and a couple of tridents if someone needs one). Hope you don't mind my fast forward through this little skirmish? Poncho and Mel (ha-ha) are down to 5 ST so they'll need a couple of hours to rest up, which probably goes for spell casters as well.

Drugan blinks rapidly.
"Well I wasn't expecting that reaction"
"I'm as drained as a stuck pig, but we are exposed in this room"
"What was down the corridor where you found this beast"
Saying this Drugan gives the gill-king a hefty kick in the head.
"Did it look a safe place to hold up in?"
Drugan takes the chance to drop his spent cudgel/makeshift staff.
P.S. Someone should pick up the crown and a non-spell caster should grab meteoric blade.

Quinlan will swipe the kris-blade then look around sheepishly... "Um, anyone mind if I hold on to this until we divide the spoils?"

Verklud to Quinlan: "No sir - but it might keep our vorpal spells off of you..." I would like to examine the crown - and by examine, I mean to cast a Sixth Sense spell at it

There is no magic about the crown.

Drugan leans tiredly against the wall tossing the heart from hand to hand.
"So what do you think are the chances we're going to find king-catfishes mom?"
OOC: Lets drag the heavy butchers table over to the metal door and use it to barricade it behind us.
That way at least we'll hear if we are followed from that direction.

"I think we should keep moving forward. That prisoner may well be dead now. But if he's not, he could be the wizard that owns this tower and may offer a handsome reward for his rescue. Besides, we seem to have something that strikes fear into those fish-faces."
Charles walks over the the severed head of the gill king, picks it up and sticks it on the end of his trident.
"Shall we lead the way?"

Melanthios: "Yes, we should go and rescue the prisoner as quickly as possible, then we should get some rest. He was in the same room as the king, down the hall. He appeared to be in a bad condition but still alive at least."
"Can anyone carry my shield as that last battle seems to have drained almost all my strength? In that case I could carry the crown as it's not as heavy as this shield."

Poncho: "Phew, but that was fun!"
"Right, after all the fire and smoke subsides a bit let's drag ourselves down the passage and find out what state this prisoner is in."
"There were three Gill-men in the room with the King, but they look suspiciously similar to those that tried to come through the southern door. Perhaps there's some hidden passage by which they outflanked us. If there are still Gill-men in the King's chamber we best take care."
