Drugan quickly prepares the firebombs, taking one himself and handing another to Verklud.
"Who wants the third"
"We go along quick and quiet, find them and take care of them"
"We could go invisible and surprise them, but what if our two fastest runners lure them to us"
"Then when they are in position, we hit them with the bombs and spells, then we wade in and finish them off while they are reeling"
"That way we can take care of them in waves and break down their advantage of numbers"
"If there aren't many in this nest we can just attack as normal"
"We chose the ground and make them pay"
"What say you lads?"

Melanthios: "Good plan Drugan. I think Poncho (as long as he doesn't object) and me should handle the luring of the gillmen into the trap. So who will take the last firebomb and where do want this ambush to happen?"

Quinlan: "I shouldn't be let near one of those. Shooting and throwing are not my strong points. I'm happy to lure and slay though."

Poncho: "Sounds like a plan. Certainly I'm up for a scouting mission. I'll leave the lantern, light a torch and keep my caltrops ready for scattering if we need to head back in a hurry."

Poncho and Melanthios move out into the corridor and south around the corner. 30' ahead the corridor branches west, but the sounds are coming from straight ahead. Continuing south for 40', Poncho and Melanthios arrive at the opening to a large chamber.
In the middle of it stands a very large gill-man with a tall, golden crown on its head. In it's right hand it holds an odd looking knife and in the left a chain, which is attached to the neck of a very dirty and pitiful man, lying on the floor.
The gill-man king turns around and seems very surprised at the sight of you, squinting at the sudden appearance of light. But he quickly recovers and yells for his underlings, an officer and two regulars.

Verklud: Looks as this grisly kitchen may serve as that site. My bow is readied. I watch Melanthios and Poncho's progress. If fire's in the hallway, probably have to throw short of the west branch...I'd hope we can bring them into this abattoir...

Drugan scans the room with quick jerks of his head.
"We can flip this huge table/butches counter over to use as a bulwark & set up in the side of the room facing the entrance"
"When they come through from the corridor let one of the firebombs fly, we'll save the other two to cover our retreat if necessary"
"We spell casters will then open up with our spells and everyone else let your missiles fly, that should blunt their charge"
"Then if we have them on the ropes we can close and finish them, if they are still strong we can use the table as a shield and fight them off"
OOC: Who has a good DEX for throwing the firebomb?

"What if they simply surround and besiege us?" Alwyn asks.

"Well then you'll just have to stand beside us and fight Alwyn"
"Like we all will"
"I think I hear them coming, right lads lets give them a little something to show what we think of their dining preferences"

Melanthios throws the butcher's knife at the gillman king and then makes his retreat making sure that the gillmen guards are following.

Quinlan: "It sounds like they're taking the bait. Get ready with those bombs."

Poncho beats a retreat making panicked wailing noises, in the hopes that we'll be chased.
Assuming they take the bait, Poncho will lodge his burning torch into the northwest corner of the passage where it turns east, then lay a scatter of his remaining caltrops as we leg it back to the abattoir.
OOC: What's odd about the King's knife?

The knife hits the King straight in the chest, but merely bounces off his thick scales. He bellows in anger and begins to follow you.
But as you look back you notice that the gill-men seem hesitant to follow you into the corridor. Instead the King stands in the opening and shouts taunts and curses after you. His old worlder is crude and uncouth, but you get the gist of it.
"Come back you cowards and face me, King Atatruk, lord of the deep! I shall fillet you alive you vermin!"
OOC: The knife is made of what looks like very crude iron and the blade has an odd twisting shape. The knife would actually be like a short sword for any man.

"Drugan, give me the third firebomb and I'll see what I can do with it. I prefer steel but this may be more effective at the moment."
Charles leans his spear against the table next to his trident and waits for the coming charge.

Quinlan: "Yes, good plan, I suppose we don't need to specifically hit him for him to be doused in flaming oil?"
"For anyone with a bow, he'd make a tempting target, framed in the doorway there..."
