"Typical" mutters Drugan as he races back to the barricade.
"Charles I'll vorpal your weapons when we meet in the press"
Drugan dives over the table.
"As soon as fish lips rounds the corner let him have it with the bomb Verklud"
"Anyone who wants to toss my trident can have a go, after I cast this spell I won't be strong enough to pierce his armored hide anyway"
OOC: Would it be possible to throw a trident or a staff to trip the gill-king?
I was thinking that if we hit with the fire-bomb he should be disoriented and a throw between his legs might trip him up.

Poncho dives over the table close behind Drugan.
"Right, here he comes friends. Big and mean. I dropped a torch and some caltrops back there, a quick splash of oil will set the corridor off nicely."
"I think we'll need to hit him with all the trips and tricks we can think of when he gets here."
"What's up with that southern door then?"
OOC: Did we notice the king's three minions following him down the corridor, or just the beast himself?

Verklud: "Alwyn, I'd say you should throw up the veil as soon as our companions return." Alwyn does so.

Melanthios runs to the barricade then positions himself next to it, ready to fight the charging gillman king.
Melanthios takes the offered trident: "Thanks Drugan. I hope this trident will have more effect on him than that knife I threw at him."

Two gill-men led by an officer are racing up the southern corridor when Varklud opens the door and lobs the jar of alcohol in their face. Charles barely manages to push the door closed again as the, now flaming, gill-men run up against it. Their howls of pain are only slightly muffled by the metal door.
The party barely has time to form their ranks behind the barricades, as Alwyn conjures the Veil of Shuga and Atatruk barges down the corridor. Charles lobs his jar of alcohol, hitting the giant gill-man just as he steps on the calthrops. For a moment the king is engulfed in flames, but then he emerges from the inferno almost unscathed. The gill-man king is bleeding from his feet and he is livid with rage, but he stops in surprise at the seemingly empty room.
OOC: OK, how do you want to play this?
If you drop the veil when attacking, you will get one round of surprise (double HPT). If you want to fight invisible, everyone must make a L1SR on LK each round. If only one PC fails it means he gets tripped by someone else and looses his attack for that round. Two or more simultaneous failures and one of the PC's accidentaly attacks the other. Ultimately it is Alwyn who must decide what he does with his magic.
The barricade acts as a 2 point shield.

OOC: Would the gill-king's meteoric blade protect him from a vorpaled weapon?
If not I will Vorpal Charles weapons, if it does I will cast "The Seal of Cthon" on the metal door.
Also for the Missile round would it be possible to trip the gill-king with a cast trident or staff while he is still surprised?

OOC: Would the gill-king's meteoric blade protect him from a vorpaled weapon? Since the spell is not directed at him, I'd say no.No, since he is not running. But any missile attacks while invisible will have double HPT.

OOC: What about a volley of missile attacks from us, bows, spears, tridents etc and then the wizards can vorpal the warriors weapons and we can see if the triple shock of missile fire, invisible surprise and vorpaled weapons can put a dent in this beast?
Do you think one of us should seal the metal door or go all out on the king this round and hope the door holds until next round?

Poncho: "Good plan Drugan!"
"A round of missiles first then in with the weapons. As long as that south door holds we're looking good."

OOC: Sounds like a plan. I'd say drop the veil and go for the double HPT with everyone attacking rather than trying a lot of luck SRs. When the veil goes down Charles throws his lucky spear at the gill man giant then draws his sax for close combat. Spear throw 2d6 6 + 6 + 1= 13 x 2 = 26 OOC: I'm feeling another berserk rage may be in order. Let's see how the dice feel. OOC: Edited to include personal adds.

Having surrendered his trident to a more deft hurler Drugan casts his knife at the gill-king then casts the "Vorpal Blade of Saathi" on Charles weapons.
Roll: 3 x2 =6

Poncho wings an arrow at the King, then prepares his trident for battle.
1d6 +7 4 + 7 = 11 (x2 = 22)
