Take 10 isn't for "easy" tasks, but for tasks where the risk is low; it's a big difference in d20.
In T&T, since the default is 1 damage per 2 failed by on the SR, higher difficulty=higher danger.
Writing an awesome blog post, for example, would be, in d20 terms, TN 25 on Craft (Blogger)... Writing a passable post would be TN 15. Neither has much risk associated. If I've got Craft (Blogger) +7, I've nothing to lose by taking 10 on normal posts, or spending an hour or so taking 20. But, if I'm in a hurry... that's going to preclude the taking 20. If I've a gun to my head, that precludes both take 10 and take 20...

Ooohhh. Ok. I think the mists of this rule are starting to form into something far less emphemeral. I really appreciate it. With that in mind, I can now turn back to the rules and maybe this time, my thought process will have far less of a 'stubbed toe' effect.

Hey, what's that bit about standard T&T damage being 1 point per 2 missed by on the SR? I haven't come across that before?

Likewise. Can you tell us where you got that from, Aramis?

By playing a bunch of solos. When it's not an all or nothing, it's 1:1 or 2:1. City of Terrors has a 1:1 trollstone caverns has a 1:1. I recall it being in several different adventures; not for all, but often enough that it's a good guideline. 1:1 is what I can find right now.
I may have also confounded the 2x amount failed by for AP, as well, with the Damage=failure margin. But the failure=damage at some ratio is pretty common.

Ah, so it's an aggregated inference, rather than a specifically laid down rule. That's make sense...
