You make your way down the corridor, towards the room where you first encountered the gill-man king. Just before the room you notice a bundle of filthy cloths hanging from a chain fastened to one of the torch holders on the corridor wall. Closer examination reveals it to be a very manhandled human. He is only barely alive, but he manages a crooked smile when he sees the kings head on Charles trident.
The room beyond is dark and when one of you steps forward to look inside the man croaks, "Don't!", and looses consciousness.
OOC: apeloverage, the trident is in all respects like a spear. So the ST and DEX requirements are 8 and 11. Alwyn can use it as a weapon, but will only roll one die.

Drugan scratches his chin and leans on his trident.
"Well this seems a bit like a trap to me"
Drugan will cast Tsathotha's Sixth-Sense on the room.
OOC: How about we take my rope and lasso the guy and drag him towards us.
The wall bracket can't be that tough and together we can probably pull him to safety.
Then we can take my crowbar, file and chisel and get him free.

Let's try some mundane investigations first...

OOC: From Burke's post it sounded like the man was chained up outside of the chamber he warned us about. Burke, correct me if I'm wrong. So we should be able to collect his without any trouble. We can use the hammer and iron spikes to break the chain.

Drugan will use his crowbar to wrench the fixture from the wall and then see if he can get some help to carry the man back to the kitchen.
Once there he'll get to work with the file to free the man from the chains.
OOC: Did the detect magic find anything in the forbidden room?

Drugan's suspicions are correct. Some kind of sinister magic pervades the room.
The torch holder is easily pried loose and you carry the man back to to the abattoir. He has sustained many injuries and seems to be malnourished and dehydrated. As you have the proper tools, he is soon freed from the chains, but he is still unconscious.

Drugan will lay him with his head elevated on his pack and see if there is anything to cover him with like a sheet or perhaps someone could donate their cloak.
Then I will pour him so water ( mixed with wine if we have any ) and see if I can get him to wake enough to drink. If he does I'll offer him food, something soft and easy to get down.
"Here good fellow have a drink, the beast who did this to you dead"
"He now lyes headless and heartless like a butchered steer"
"Now who good sir are you and if you feel strong enough, tell us of the evil that waits in yonder room"
OOC: We still probably need to keep a watch on the corridor, just because that room is dangerous to us doesn't mean that he gill-men can't come at us through it.
Whoever watches should have one of the two remaining firebombs, that will slow the blighter's down.

"He may require some real rest that these tunnels cannot provide Drugan. Perhaps we should return to the tower and recover our own strength while we wait for our new friend here to wake up and share his knowledge of these catacombs with us?"

"Perhaps your right, but I think we should rest a bit so that we spellcasters and you warriors are capable of defending us while we return to the tower"

Under Drugan's gentle cares the man regains consciousness, but he is running a high fewer and is too weak to answer any questions. He does seem to answer to the name Móric though.
You take some well earned rest and have a bite to eat to recover your strength. The surroundings are among the most dreary you have ever encountered, but your recent victory over the king and the growing friendship among you is enough to lift your spirits.
OOC: What do you want to do now? If you want to pull back to the tower and see to the ailing conjuror, we can fast forward a bit.

Melanthios: "Let's get him back to the tower and see to him there. I want to know what he knows about that room the king was guarding and the rest of these catacombs before we continue our explorations."

"Agreed," Charles says rising from the floor and securing his weapons. "The late king and I shall lead the way."
Charles raises the head-tipped trident and does his best gill man impression, "Yes, let me THE LORD OF THE DEEP do the talking from now on you vermin."
Charles laughs at his own, somewhat disturbing, puppet show.
