Drugan will examine the room for hidden passages, trapdoors or sliding panels.
Also with the greatest of care he will probe the heap of seaweed with his trident, cautious of what it might conceal.

The only hidden door Drugan can find is the one you came through. The heap of seaweed does not conceal anything. It is heavily indented in the middle, suggesting that something large lay in it at one time.

"Well besides this catfish bed and a few gory pieces of cutlery this room is empty"
"However by the abominable human detritus that befouls that plate, they must have been here recently"
"Lets press on"

"Not before I gather these trinkets," Charles says as he clears the plates of offal. "Soon we'll have the entire set. Hopefully someone will want to buy them back in the city."
Charles packs the plates, goblets, and tankard in his pack for safe keeping.
"Do you think that passage leads directly to the dangerous room Moric mentioned? Are you picking up any bad vibes?"

The corridor goes north for 40' and ends in one of the usual metal doors. No sounds can be heard and the wizards do not sense anything, so Charles once again opens the door for a look.
The room is 40' by 40' and your entrance is 10' from the west wall. There are two doors facing each other on the west and east sides, 10' from the south wall. A dark corridor leads northward 10' from the east wall. This room seems to be some kind of intersection and it is completely bare. This whole place seems quiet as the grave.

"We should be on our guard and decide which direction we want to take before we enter the room"
"A major crossroads like this would be the perfect place for the catfish to rush us from every side"

Poncho: "Methinks a quick look at Melanthios' map is useful."
"The chamber where we first saw the gill king should be just up ahead. This crossroads must be how his minions came around behind us the last time. Maybe we should spike the doors to east and west and proceed north with caution."

"Isn't that the room that is magically trapped?" Charles asks after looking at the map. "I'd rather not tangle with dark magic just yet."
"I'd say west is the better course. That would take us back to the statue room. Perhaps we can open the doors from the other side. Otherwise we could go east, circle back to the kitchen then try the passage west we didn't explore."

Melanthios: "Let's leave the north room until we have some idea of what we would be dealing with. Let's go west first and if that proves to be a dead end, then we go east."

"Yes lets head west"
"I'd rather deal with the dark magic of the forbidden room after we have cleared the rest of the catfish from these caverns"

Poncho: "Aye, wise words fellows. West first then. "
"There were also some caverns we passed some days ago, back by the underground shoreline, that could still harbor the remnants of these foul fish folk."

The western door opens into a corridor. At the 50' mark there are doors on both sides, while the corridor continues westward.

"By the way" Alwyn remarks.
"What's a pelgrane?"

Melanthios will try listening for sounds first at the north door and then at the south door. If he doesn't hear anything he will open the southern door and look inside.

Drugan will keep an eye out westward while Melanthios listens at the doors in case some sneaky gill-man pops his head into sight.
