'How hard can it be to get half a dozen people together on a Saturday afternoon?', I thought. Well-nigh impossible, it turns out... ! The quote we've taken to using is variously: "It's like herding cats." or "It's like nailing Jell-o to a tree." I, personally, like the idea of blending the two: "It's like trying to nail a herd of Jell-o cats to a tree..."Ok, and we're back to the Jigglers again...

You're welcome to join in, if you can get here on Saturday afternoons... Hmm... always possible. Anyone know where I can pickup a TARDIS transit token? Mug the Doctor?

Mahrundl, I definitely remember Lipton's Jigglers but you must be making up that story about danglers... I'd never drink from a cup that had been near one of those - even my own! ;D

Fingers crossed Mahrundl, I hope it does happen. Hey, which ruleset will you be using? Really, Hogscape, do you even have to ask? 5th, of course. ;D Although, given the setting, it will probably be somewhat more house-ruled than the original campaign.

There has been movement on the campaign front. I have a third confirmed player and 2 more possibles. One player has decided that she wants to play an 'unstable' shapeshifter (stressful situations cause a semi-random change of shape, from a pre-determined list - and she won't have the full list... ;D), and another wants to play a Cylon centurion (not fully functional, obviously, and slightly deranged in Cylon terms, so that it won't immediately start to kill the rest of the party).
Currently I'm working on developing the magical mutations and encounter types.

Currently I'm working on developing the magical mutations and encounter types. I trust this is a "Classic" Centurion, not one of those CG abominations. God I love the original Cylons, especially the fact the Centurions carried short swords so they didn't have to "waste" ammunition on non-combatants, like y'know women & children! I think that would make a ripping character, I mean rogue Centurions show up at least twice in the first series, if I remember right. One even died killing other Cylons to save Starbuck. Here are some useful Cylon Links: Firstly the rare origin video, that only showed up in the TV version of the Battlestar Galatica movie: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0khh8nClHAM&feature=relatedThe indefatigable Cylon catch-phrase: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ccKPSVQcFk&feature=relatedFinally the heroic Centurion sacrifices his life to save Starbuck: www.youtube.com/watch?v=swpcY9SCU5Q&NR=1I love the look and attitude of the original, shiny, metallic death. Killer robots at their finest! ;D

By the way, TKD, the origin of the cylons as reptilians is also in the normal series; on Carilon, while in the landram, Apollo tells Boxy the history of the cylons.
A more detailed essay also appeared in the Marvel adaptation of the movie.
Old School BSG was fun, and for its day, awesome graphics for TV.
Playing a damaged Cylon sounds like a wonderful link to why Gamma Trollworld is in gamma-mode...

I see I was beat to the punch by my fellow geeks on mention of the original Cylons being a reptilian race (yep, I remember the centerpiece of my oversized Marvel Spectacular of BSG, with all the info on the races and vehicles, etc. I dug how their young had the metal plates shoved into and under their skin so it became a part of them as they grew, until they donned their final full oversuit at adulthood. ;D Old-school Cylons = awesome-sauce. New-school Cylons = boring. EDIT: Hm. I just watched TKD's link on the storyboarded origin. Much different from everything I've read. Weird. In fact, if I remember correctly, the fact that they were indeed reptilians themselves under the armor is in the novelization... *shrug*

The cyborg-reptiles were an early story idea, the final product ended up heavily influenced by Saberhagen's "Berserker" books ( Yet another cool point in their favor! ;D ). In that the Cylons are ancient war machines designed by an extinct civilization ( that they destroyed ) , that continued on conquering and destroying humanoid civilizations that could pose a possible threat to their dominion. I know in the reboot that was tried in the early 90's that never got out of the comic/novel phase decided to go with the original cyborg-reptile concept. I even remember seeing some toys for the redesigned Cylons. If I remember correctly in the first series "Imperious Leader" the main Cylon who always sat on that plinth was supposed to look like an actual biological Cylon. The Centurions were an updated more humanoid design. Sorry for the Cylon love thread-jack Hogscape!
