Thurgood's spell lights a blaze in the darkness, Bjorn's dagger flashes (roll 4+2=6+DX(11)=17 miss) by one of them, and after a moment, Knuckles flares to strike the other. Both of them stumble from the impact, momentarily stunned by the light and damage both, but continue their rush forward (will be in melee range next round).
Blek and Dool jump down from the tunnel, prepared to engage the attackers with falchion, spear and shield. Kurub stays in the tunnel, apparently to keep a hold of the rope.

Thurgood will try to give Knuckles some extra cover seeing as he has a shield and armor and Knuckles is pretty vulnerable.
"Now it's gnome smacking time!" ( waves staff menacingly! ;D )

Bjorn moves forward to meet the charging gnomes from the left hand tunnel and to keep them away from Thurgood and Knuckles.
"I hear you fellas like steel!" he shouts and strikes with his saber and bank.
Combat rolls (6+4+2+4)+(3+1+3)+2=25

Thurgood lays about him with spiked shield and staff.
5+6+2+2-5=10 points
Though sapped by his spell casting Thurgood lends a hand where he can.

(since spell casting just makes me ugly and stinky) I release my flute and, in the same fluid movement, draw my weapon from my left hip, with my right hand, slashing up and across, as the blade of my fang-wing seeks the flesh of our nearest enemy... (25) invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2273958/

Blek and Dool meet the charging gnomes in melee and are totally overwhelmed - the creatures barely pause to turn the hirelings weapons and send them sprawling. Seeing the carnage in the right passage, both Ponto and Knuckles send their missiles that way, and have (by chance) both targetted the same one. Ponto's sling stone hits for 11, the fang-wing 20 - the creature reels and stops it charge, collapsing to the floor. The other one continues, appears to be angling for Kurub (whose bowels you may have heard loosening themselves a moment ago...)
Bjorn and Thurgood (35) meet the other two in the left-hand passage. Battering almost mindlessly against your shields, you hold them and distribute 3 damage to each of them. You both see a brief flare of reddish light farther down the sloping tunnel.

"Quickly friends it appears as if gnomish reinforcements are on the way!"
3+3+3+5-5=9 for staff and shield.
OOC: If I cast any more spells at this point I'll knock myself out. I used 5 STR on the Rock-Lizard and 5 STR on one of the gnomes, so I'm pretty tapped.
Hopefully Bjorn's mighty thews can stem the gnomish tide in this passage while the others hold the right hand tunnel.

(OOC- clarifications: Did I just throw my Fang-Wing? How are we arranged? How low can my charisma go before I ugly to death?)
I parry like the wind, dodging away from Kurub, in an attempt to flank the creature.

(OOC- clarifications: Did I just throw my Fang-Wing? How are we arranged? How low can my charisma go before I ugly to death?) I interpreted the score (25) that you gave me as a DEX sr to throw it, so yes. Do we need to rewind? (if so sorry - but I assumed that 'seeking flesh of nearest enemy' when no enemy was in reach would mean a throwing) As far you positions, that is pretty loose. Bjorn and Thurgood are in the left passage, not far. You and Ponto are "near the entrance" and Kurub the henchman is in the tunnel you entered from. The remaining gnome will be in melee range this round, but looks like it's after Kurub - you can try to move to flank it. I imagine that if you uglied yourself down to zero, your conscious personality would diffuse into the nothingness, and if you lived after in a biological sense, it would be w/o volition (so yeah - 0 CHR = no more Knuckles)

With the battle joined Bjorn starts to laugh as he battles the small warriors. He parries a few blows with his bank and seeks to decapitate one of the vicious gnomes with his saber.
He takes a momentary glance back at their henchmen and sees the quivering Kurub preparing to meet a chargin gnome. "Take heart Kurub, trust in your steel!"
Combat rolls (6+3+2+3) + (3+4+3) + 2 = 26

Ponto will try and get behind the remaining gnome and stab it in the back.

(ooc-thanks for explaining, no rewind necessary)
Drawing my blackjack as I flank the creature, I swing (1d6+3+13=21) for the base of his skull, hoping to subdue him before he can do any damage. Unless he then engages me directly, I will move to recover my fang-wing.
As I run to retrieve my weapon, "Remind me my friends, when we get back to town, I need to get another knife..."

Bjorn and Thurgood keep their gnomes at bay this round, dealing 4 damage to each of the creatures. I forget which of you two carries a charm, whoever that is feels its assistance this round - your opponents seem slightly hindered after first contact.
Kurub (after a wonderful run of doubles on SR!) has against great odds decided to do the smart thing (for him: best stat is speed) - to turn and run like the wind. The rope he held is secured with a piton. He frantically shifts and makes a half-crawling retreat somewhat speedily. The gnome charges up the slope after him, while Ponto and Knuckles both dart in behind it while it climbs - and dispatch it speedily.

Bjorn continues to hack, stab, and slash and the gnomes. He feels a little thankful for the charm he wears.
"Gods these devils are tough!"
Combat rolls (4+2+1+3) + (6+1+3) + 2 = 22
