With his new feather stuck at a jaunty angle in his cap Drugan will go forward and investigate the recessed door.
Before he touches the door he will minutely examine the walls of the recess looking for tripwires, suspicious holes or cracks, pressure plates or unusual patterns.
After that he will wave his staff/crutch through the space of the recess before advancing to examine the door.
Drugan will check the hinges if they are on this side of the door, what material the door is made of, if there are gaps at the top, bottom or side of the door.
Then he will examine the locking mechanism determining what kind if any the lock is and then he will carefully listen at the door trying to determine what if anything can be heard from the other side.
OOC: If the lock looks suspicious lets use my crowbar to pop the lock or open the door with the gauntlet form one of the armored characters suits.

Melanthios stands guard in the corridor in case the ghost returns while he waits for Drugan to finish his door inspection.

The door is of the usual, rusty metal, type that you have grown accustomed to in these tunnels. It does not bear a lock and merely seems a bit rusted shut.
Drugan cannot hear anything from the other side and so hooks his crowbar in the handle and pulls the door open. The corridor on the other side goes east and turns north immediately. All surfaces are covered with grime and moss (the regular kind) and do not seem to have been traversed in a very long time. Large black slugs can be seen here and there on the walls and ceiling.

Charles steps forward to the doorway, but not through it. If he can reach he uses his trident to impale a slug and carries it back into the room for a quick inspection.
"Can anyone tell if this is a flesh-eating variety or just a normal slug?"

OOC: The slugs are of the normal variety. Just fat and contented.

Alwyn recommends burning the slugs with a torch as we travel.

"lets advance lads, that phantom could return any time"
Drugan tries to not squish the slugs with his wooden foot.
It sounds disgusting! ;D

"Had that I'd brought by pinch box of salts...would have slug jerky to last many days!" (OOC: sorry - I been out of it again for a minute...)

The corridor goes north 60' before turning east. The burning slugs give off a sour smell. After the turn the corridor is only 10' long and ends in a long disused door.

Melanthios: "I'd say that we're back at the slime room. I'd rather meet any amount of ghosts than go back in there."
"Let's go back through the cold room and try the eastern passage that we left unexplored."

Drugan nods.
"I agree, one more trip through that room and I won't have a leg to stand on!"
