"Next time we must concentrate our fire on a single specter and destroy it utterly"
"They seem cowardly and will probably flee.....Again after we vanquish one of their number"
"For now let us retreat to the tower and seek the advice of the wizard, perhaps he can advise us on how to battle these ghosts more effectively"

"In this room there are/were three bone piles, it seems to me that there must be some relation between these and the three ghosts we just fought. What happens if we move the bones into the corridor and out of this unnatural coldness? If that doesn't work maybe we should also try dumping them in a puddle of slime to see if destroying the bones will have an effect on the ghosts?" Alwyn agrees. "Kicking down the piles might do it as well."

Drugan scratches his head.
"I already scattered the bones with my crutch, so merely knocking them down wont be enough"
"Want to take some back to the wizard, maybe he can determine if they are linked or not"
OOC: And if they happen to follow us back to the tower he would be a good ally to have in fighting them. ;D

Melanthios: "If we had a large sack or piece of cloth we could easily sweep up the bones and carry them out of here."
"If it's too much work to carry out the bones we could also try doing something about the cold in here, like filling this room up with burnables, pouring some oil on top of it then throwing in a torch and closing the door."
"But let's go hear what Móric has to say about this first."

Móric is troubled by what you tell him, "The beings you describe could be wights, the undead spirits of exceptionally evil and hateful beings. I am no expert on the subject, but I would stay clear of them if I were you."
"As for curing their corrupting influence? I believe the damage is as much magical as it is physical and therefore the mere Rejuvinating Touch of the Swan might not be enough. But perhaps the Succor or the Ichor might prove more effective!"
Móric conjures the Succor of the Swan on Poncho and after a while the color returns to his face. Móric then proceeds to cure both Melanthios and Quinlan later that evening and the next day all feel better.

Drugan leans on his crutch and broods.
"Sir Móric, do you know some better way for us to confront and vanquish these "Wights", I don't think you wan us to go and leave such evil beings lurking beneath your tower"
"The new double-bolt we installed on your trap-door will aid in keeping the denizens from invading your tower, but what good is that against beings who can pass through solid stone!"
"So far we have been able to drive them off with the magic of our spells and Charles enchanted trident can injure them, but the inability to deal a decisive blow against them hampers our efforts to defeat them"
"Are they vulnerable to silver, our from the cleansing touch of flame, or the wood of the ash tree and do you know if enchanting the weapons of our comrades with temporary spells will allow them to injure these vile undead.
"Good Móric any advice you can give us will be invaluable in riding the caverns beneath your home of these spectral abominations"
OOC: Well I think we can get rid of at least one Wight at a time be concentrating our fire on a single target. However that will leave us vulnerable to the attacks of the other two, Alwyn & Drugan can manage a second magical attack so we might even get two. Then however we will have no recourse but Charles trident, so if we can find anything else to injure the Wights with it will allow a more likely victory.

Quinlan: "Móric can you tell us if the creatures are bound to that room? it seems they are. If so, would it not be possible to pass through it without fear of harm - providing they had yet to materialise>"

Móric tries to answer your questions, "Most evil specters are susceptible to sunlight. And it would certainly seem that they are somehow bound to their haunt, but of this I cannot be certain. If you brave their domain again I would be very surprised if they did not try to assail you."
After a short pause Móric adds, "You do not need to purge the caverns below on my account. You have done more than enough by getting rid of the abominable gill-men and you have my gratitude."

"Yes Drugan, Alwyn - we'll have to take a moment to adopt a common target when they reveal themselves again, foul shades - I think that tossing their bones in to be consumed by the slime - or bagging them and throwing them out of the tower may dispel their haunt."

"If they have shaved heads" Alwyn remarks,
"then they're probably wight supremacists."

Drugan grins savagely. "Then lets head back down and gives those pointy headed phantoms a taste of mystic might!" Drugan addresses the parties wizards. "So we'll all give it to the middle specter first, then Alwyn and I will both smite the leftmost phantom....then we run like hell and return to finish off the last one latter" "I like this plan, it has two excellent elements, striking fast and without mercy & running away" "Two strategies I can heartily get behind"

Melanthios: "I think we need a plan B if Drugan's plan doesn't work out. Let's see if we can find a sack or anything else that can be used to carry out the bones with."

Drugan offers up his cloak to make a sack.
"Give me a few minutes with a needle and thread and we'll have a functional sack"
"Lets see if we can find a shovel while we're at it, the faster we get those bones in the bag and destroyed once we're in that cold room the better"

Melanthios finds an old potato sack and coal shovel at the first level of the tower. Armed with these you return to the tunnels beneath.
The bone piles have been reassembled and as soon as you enter the three wights materialize and attack.
You let loose with your magic at the wight in the middle and Charles takes a stab with his trident. As the middle wight shrieks in pain and disintegrates, the others seem to realize what is happening and concentrate their attacks on Alwyn (-4 ST permanently, or at least until cured by magic).
After this the two remaining wights disappear.

"Ha! Take that fiends. Well done gentlemen. Lets gather these bones and set them in the slime room."
Looking at Alwyn's pale complexion he considers their options. "Probably best not to touch them with our hands. Let's stick with the shovel and other tools."
Charles uses his enchanted trident as a pitchfork to move bones into the sack.
