This is a working title for a setting/adventure I'm working on for T&T and OD&D (I wanted to keep it systems neutral, but had T&T in mind when I came up with the idea).
It takes place in a port town called Imadjupoor, it's rife with organized crime (the main crime lord is a necromancer called Ju Ju Jones), gambling, brothels, illegal substance abuse, weapons dealers, evil sorcery, political corruption...you name it. Think of it as Chicago in the 1920's only in a fantasy setting.
The underground sewer system is also going to be it's own are for adventure. I refer to it as The Underdrek. Criminals, roaming monsters and abominations created by discarded magicks populate this area.
It's going to have some elements of film noir, gangster movies, exploitation movies, horror films and toungue-in-cheek Terry Pratchett kind of humor.
I'm still fleshing it out but I've got a lot of ideas. I've been reading the original City State of the Invincible Overlord for inspiration.

I like it! Sounds to me like you have a lot of ideas to work with there. Two thoughts I had while reading the descritpion were 1) Sanctuary from the Thieves World anthologies and 2) Sewer Urchin from the Tick - "Down here I'm considered the apotheosis of cool."
I look forward to reading more of your setting.

mahrundl, would Drekelves be too over the top? ProfGremlin, I still need to read Thieves World. I've had the books forever but have never cracked them.

mahrundl, would Drekelves be too over the top? I always liked the Gully Dwarves from the Dragonlance saga. Maybe you could add Gutter Dwarves as natives of the Underdrek as well? ProfGremlin, I still need to read Thieves World. I've had the books forever but have never cracked them. I thoroughly enjoyed them, there are some really memorable characters in there. I'd say try the first book when you're up for it. Since they're collections of short stories you're not really at risk of a major time investment if they don't work out for you.

That sounds just up my street SonOfThor, but it's dripping with T&T potential - write it for T&T and add an OD&D conversion at the back...
;D

ProfGremlin - Funny thing is I always jokingly referred to Gully Dwarves as Gutter Dwarves!
Hogscape - I may just write it for T&T since it really fits more with the game. Who knows? I'm planning on running it next tuesday as a sandbox style campaign. Hopefully people will show up..

I forgot to mention that on the out skirts of the town dwell hillbilly hobbits, hobbillies if you will. I don't think I'll put any of our adventurers through a "Deliverance" style adventure but I think it my be an interesting addition. I'm going for High Fantasy, Low Brow!

Well if you are going to do hobbillies you've got to work in moonshine and bootlegging.
Maybe the hobbillies are cutting the corrupt city bosses out of their share of the liquor tariffs.
The PC's could be hired to run the liquor through the guards blockades and get it delivered on time.
I've always been of the opinions that their all "DrekElves" so I say go with it, maybe you could make them vice kings or sleazy griffters.

;D LOL! There's not a big "thumbs up" smiley and that's disappointing. Wow. Ha ha! Trashy adventure in a land of grime! Heh heh.

Sounds like fun. I'm reminded of the classic Bored of the Rings, as well as a radioplay I was involved in, lo these many years ago, called The Maltese Balrog, or Farewell, My Precious. ;D

Oh, dear gods this sounds like fun! Two gangs are fighting each other for control over the city's graft - The Drek Elves in the east and the Gutter Dwarves in the west. The Hobbillies are refusing to pay the Drek Elves protection for selling Hobbilly 'shine so the Drek Elves are out for blood. The Gutter Dwarves have just recently run into the Hobbillies trying to establish a market for their 'shine on the west side of town.
Both the Drek Elves and Gutter Dwarves have made the PC's offers to deal with this Hobbilly 'issue'. Which will they choose or will the Hobbillies make them a better offer?

These are some great ideas! If I put this out, I'll credit any ideas at the beginning of the book!

I just posted about the setting on my gaming blog! Oh, dear gods above that reads hilariously! I'll tell you, Sonofthor, if I read that on the back of a novel I'd be picking it up to read. I strongly encourage you to build this setting up and release it much as Hogscape has done with his Dark Isles setting either as a pdf or post it to lulu.com. An Exalt for such a wonderous imagination!
