[You should be able to make it to the inn before nightfall if you hurry. Movement is 3 hexes per day, on foot, in open terrain.]

Melanthios: "I'm with Drugan. Let's press on. We can eat and rest when we get to the inn."

"Yes, to the inn. I'd rather reserve this trident for skewering gill men not squirrels and rabbits. Besides, the last time we went wandering through mountain passes we ended up neck deep in trouble."

You press on and later that afternoon you spot the ruins of the old city [hex 1114]. Strange rectangular towers of awesome height, ruined and crumbling. The place looks entirely deserted. Making a wide berth around the ruins you continue towards the northeast.
It is almost dark when you finally spot the lights from the inn away to the south. The Small Stalkers Inn is surrounded by a high, wooden palisade and besides the three-storied building of the inn proper, a large stable, two watchtowers and a couple of smaller huts are crammed within its walls. Business seems to be booming, as a large wagon and tent town is sprawled outside the west wall.
As you approach the gate, two guards carrying halberds walk up to you and bid you to present yourselves and your business at the inn.

"We are but weary travellers, seeking food and lodging" Alwyn tells them.

"We've been assailed by monstrous beastmen from the depths, and come for rest at Small Stalkers, and news from the merchants of Esperance. We've been hard put restoring Moric the Mage his tower and seek to relax behind your vigilant guardianship!" (and I will present 5 gold pieces to the nearest of them)

The guards, who had been looking quite skeptical to your appearance, change tack when Varklud produces the coins and let you enter.
The inner courtyard is quite cramped and filled with patrons, servants and stable boys going hither and tither. No one takes any further notice of you, as you make your way to the entrance of the inn.
The interior is quite smoky, but otherwise clean and well kept. The place is bustling and you have to push your way through to reach the bar. A short, muscular man with a big scar on his left cheek and a towel draped over his shoulder is tending the bar.
"Welcome to the Small Stalkers Inn. You're new here I see, what can I get you?", he asks and wipes the counter in front of you with the towel.

"A couple of rounds of ales for myself and my friends here," Charles says to the barman. "We are looking for Chet. We're here on behalf of Moric to obtain some provisions for him. We'd also like to know if there are any merchants or traders here who would be interested in obtaining some rare and wondrous artifacts at a fair price."

"Oh so you know Móric, how is the old fellow?", asks the barman before he continues, "I am Chet, welcome to my inn."
Chet serves you some ale and you present him with the letter and explain some of the circumstances concerning your acquaintance with Móric. Chet nods and looks pleased, he eyes through the letter before pocketing it.
"I'll send some of my boys over with the provisions tomorrow. You know, I used to be an adventurer as well, as did Móric, although he did not care for it much."
He takes you to a private booth and sends a serving girl to fetch some food.
"I'm quite busy this evening as you can probably tell, but I'll stop by later and take a look at your wares. We've a lot of folk from far and wide here tonight and I'm sure I can find you a buyer."
The food arrives shortly and for a while you concentrate on filling your stomachs. The cuisine is basic but good and a welcome change from the rations you have been living on for so long.
Later during the night, Chet returns as promised. As you show him the gill-men artifacts his expression becomes worried, "Artifacts of the abominable fish men have an ill reputation in Esperance and might even land you in trouble. Lucky for you we are not as harsh out here in the borderlands. But I would still keep them hidden if I were you."
Chet introduces you to a swarthy merchant, who is willing to take the objects off your hands.
[Please produce a list of all the items you wish to sell. Also one of you should make a SR on CHR for the bartering.
Btw, I forgot to reward you EP for daring to explore the dungeon. So you each receive 100 EP immediately.]

Drugan gently pushes Alwyn to the fore.
"Go and bargain him out of his last gold piece you charming devil you"
"Quinlan go with him and dazzle the poor trader with your hat"

"Yes indeed, let's flog all the loot and have ourselves some entertainment!"
Poncho will flash some coin and attempt to catch the eye of a comely serving wench... not with his hook, mind.
"Is this trading post well-enough stocked with goods that we can freely purchase new equipment?"
OOC: Sorry folks for the long hiatus, have been busy with some family business - not losing interest! Thanks for pulling me out the wreckage of Moric's tower earlier! I'd offer to tally up the loot but I'm pressed for time today - I think we need to keep better track of the plunder.

"Lucky for you we are not as harsh out here in the borderlands. But I would still keep them hidden if I were you." Chet introduces you to a swarthy merchant, who is willing to take the objects off your hands. Staying out of earshot of the merchant Charles asks Chet for clarification. "Will this man purchase the gill man artifacts?" OOC: I'm a little confused by this; can we sell the artifacts at all? If the merchant will take the gill man artifacts Charles will offer: 12 bronze cups, 6 gilded plates, 2 gilded goblets, 1 large, gilded tankard, red and black opal If not he will only offer the opal to the merchant. I suppose we could try to melt down the gold necklaces an make ingots if no one will buy them as is.
