[Porkbelly, let's say oil costs 2 gp per flask.
Apeloverage, you can roll on the table at the beginning of the equipment list in the PHB, to see if you find a wand.]
The next day dawns and some of you are suffering from brain splitting headaches.
[Remove at least 2 gp for room and board.]
The place is bustling just like the night before. Many of the merchants are moving on, while others are coming in. The talk around the breakfast tables concern everything from the price of salt, to the power struggle in distant Stracha.
Some of the merchants are however worried about a colleague and Varklud overhears them as they ask Chet if he has been by the Inn, but the short innkeeper only seems to confirms their fears.

Drugan will sidle up to the merchants.
"My good fellows, I'm afraid I overheard your tribulations"
"I and my friends are freelance troubleshooters and adventurers and if you would care to join us at our table we could discuss your dilemma"
"Perhaps we could be of assistance"
OOC: Well Drugan failed to find a Staff Ordinaire, Drugan will pick up three oil skins, 4 days of canned rations and three standard days of rations, a Bola and I'd like to buy a blowgun, but I can't find any paralyzing poison. Does spider venom not come along until latter editions.
Cost plus 1 days room and board = 68

Once Melanthios' headache has subsided a bit he will go out shopping. Not finding much in the way of armor he will buy a heavy mace, some boots (knee), a magnetic compass and 3 flasks of oil.

(OOC: I did not think we had to roll SR's to get Ordinaire staffs since they are listed in the book... uh oh... I'll make that roll now... 1st level success - the ring was expensive...)
"Indeed ser merchant - What matters you are in need of? We are a persistent lot..."

Apeloverage, you can roll on the table at the beginning of the equipment list in the PHB, to see if you find a wand.] [3 + 6, + CHA 16 = 25] Alwyn finds a sinister merchant who has a Staff Ordinaire for sale. It's more expensive than in civilised lands, but to find one at all is a bargain. By casting doubt on the magical nature of the staff, he manages to talk the merchant down to 120 gold pieces.

Poncho: "I found a mule but she's a bit expensive at 45 gp. I can only chip in 8 gp, anyone else want to contribute?"

Drugan not having a whole lot to spend his gold on will pitch in for the rest of the cost.
37 GP
Drugan stands to hand Poncho and falls on his face.
"d**n it which of you stole my foot!"
Cue the Benny Hill music and start the crutch chase!
OOC: While they are resting Drugan will enchant 4 wooden wands as temporary staffs and also cast makeshift staff on his wooden foot!

Poncho: "Why thanks, Drugan! She's this one over here with the snaggle tooth and the wonky ears."
"Since you paid for her, you'll have to give her a name now."

I propose Gertrude for our sturdy little mule.
Drugan can say it in a very exasperated tone when she acts up "Gerrrrrtrude!".

Excellent, now that we have Gerty, I shall return Drugan's foot (having found it up a flag pole for some reason)...
Quinlan: "What-say we explore that ancient city we spotted on the way over here?"

... and Poncho runs it up the flagpole [ooc: this tipped the exaltometer into the red - and I find myself simultaneously hoping and not hoping that some spells get cast through Drugan's foot! brilliant!] "The weird city? Ooooo... did certainly look weird, didn't it? So far, anybody who's mentioned it has had one thing to say about it: stay away! Perhaps while the troubled merchants keep their affairs to themselves, I can put questions before the barkeep about the place... must be stuff of legends!"

Quinlan: "Any place that the unwashed masses believe to be taboo is probably an excellent destination for men of Destiny such as us!"
