So sad that a guy who had great products was running a shady business.

One thing to keep in mind... "that guy" might have sold enough copies to have hit the criminal side of US copyright law, and the DMCA and other post 1996 US Copyright Law changes.... As was noted in 2000 or 2001 by the Alaska Attorney General in re a video distribution case, it didn't matter that it was only 5 copies each; it was the 500 total copies that made it a federal crime. The Wasilla resident perp got hard time.

Hi there,
Just wanted to chime in on this, announce some news, and solicit some input from the international T&T community.
In 2010 I'll be opening Illustrious Life, an online mailorder (mostly) focused on distributing and publishing independent records, books, art, and other projects. I've had a long time love for T&T and also published board games in the past when I was running a similar project I ended a few years ago. I distributed Tunnels & Trolls then (strictly FBI stuff) and will continue to do so. My focus is on truely wonderful things I feel have fallen through the cracks for most, and T&T is certainly one of those.
I've known Rick Loomis for a few years now (not personally) and am putting together an e-mail to begin the licensing process. I'll also be contacting Ken St. Andre and some others about their work for the game and will be looking to publish some new and interesting projects. In fact, I'll be looking to flesh out the game more than it ever has been - so please get in touch if you have something to contribute or are interested in such projects. Unlike Mr. "that guy" I'll be doing all of this legit - so look forward to some products you can feel comfortable with.
Just thought I'd drop a note, first time poster, long time reader - looking forward to this! Going to start writing Rick an e-mail now...

Hey, illustriouslife welcome to the board.
This sounds like good news. However, I hope you'll understand that post '"that company"' most of us will want to see an offical announcement from Rick on his FBI website regarding any license. Once we see that I'm sure there won't be a shortage of peeps (me included) ready to submit T&T material to your new venture.
Welcome again,
Zen

Zen,
You’re 100% right on that one. I’ve written Rick and will await his response – I know this is certainly a sensitive time to bring up such an issue, but the fate of so much of the game’s material hangs in the balance now that it must be sorted out! I’m a T&T gamer, through and through, I was seriously interested and played many other games years ago but this is the only one which I’m still in love with. I’m sure Rick will gladly acknowledge any official licensing which goes on. So, I’m keeping my fingers crossed! Long Live Trollworld!

Just thought I'd drop a note, first time poster, long time reader - looking forward to this! Going to start writing Rick an e-mail now... Welcome to the boards and good luck with this whole process. If (when) you get some official permission from Rick and Ken we can put up an announcement (and sticky it) for your company. T&T certainly could use additional publishing support, and if it gets the green light from R&K then I'm sure our group with be supportive as well!

Alright, Rick has OK'd this, though he'll be taking a look at the individual projects before they come out. Great! I'll get in touch with Ken ASAP but this is great news!

This is good news. I hope Mr Loomis and Mr. St.Andre make a very loud announcement and very clear paper record so as to leave no doubt that you have the rights to do this project and that T&T is alive and well and has never been gone.
As you might have seen from other threads we are keen on seeing a modern, hardback publication of the rules, could this be possible with this agreement?
I am hopeful.

a modern hardback edition of the 5.5 edition? My thoughts are to expand the game and maybe create something along the line of "advanced Tunnels & Trolls" if there ever were to be such a thing. But a modern edition of some of the older rules would be *great* too.
Rick has approved this, I am conversing with Mr. St. Andre and researching it all further. I can tell you it all looks like a green light for now. I wish I could republish the Outlaw stuff but I've found out that I can not.
For now, I'm working on releasing some adventures, and a magazine (send me submissions! illustrious_life@yahoo.com and I'll give you the details ), a compendium of solo adventures, and more. Anything I do will be accompanied by official permission and when my website goes up (all part of a bigger project) I will have Rick and Ken's acknowledgment of permission there. Get in touch! Really looking forward to putting some things together.

I'm sceptical.
Who is this @yahoo person threadjacking to promote their new products, sounds just like "that guy"!
We've seen lots of people wander in here spouting off the wonderful things they are going to do for T&T and then they are gone again, do we look like suckers or something?
If you have resources and you wish to contribute to promote T&T great, but it sounds to me like you have nothing, why don't you get an URL and start a blog first. See where it goes from there, maybe contribute to some of the projects that are already happening.
If you think there's a unified market that want a "Advanced T&T" then you don't understand T&T at all.

I am a natural optimist but we need a good skeptic like Quogh to keep us from flying off the edge.
I will stick to my optimism but I will not do a dance until we can see the names and such as Quogh suggests. 'The proof of the pudding is in the eating.' (as the feller said) so I am waiting for pudding.
