Welcome greengoat! I also have a map to this fellow.. let's compare notes. I found the maze a big pain, especially the big loop on the west end of it.
As far as the rooms go, I find it a pretty good romp.
For the variations I mentioned earlier:
The card game I just wrote up a card for each room (modified several, such as laughing man) then shuffled and dealt - no need for exploring. There are about 30 cards, several have exits.
The board game was loosely based on Artifact, from Warpspawn games. I arranged the rooms in a fixed order. Players rolled a d6 to move down the track, object was to reach the vault and get back out.

Ironically, I was running my friend through Buffalo Castle the other day as a pick-up game and thought afterward that I should map it out to turn it into a real DM keyed adventure. I never realized what a pain it was to keep track of the intersections and room numbers. However I am about 3/4ths done. Maybe I will post it soon. My favorite is the room that opens to the elemental plane of buffalo out of nowhere. I have mapped the solo if you'd like a copy?? It's only a basic black and white map so you'd have to key it and, add your own room descriptions but it is accurate and to scale. Just drop a comment here if you'd like it and, i'll get it to you ASAP. :0).

Could you tell me how you whittled it down to 30 cards please?? When i looked at doing this i was running at a lot more (55).

I can't find the deck anymore but let me see if I can do this from memory... there are about 17 numbered rooms, 6 empty rooms (wandering monsters), 6 traps, and just one maze card.
It was played so many times some of the cards really needed to be modified from the solo. Laughing Man, the Thief, The Wizard and the Sleeping Lady come to mind.
How do you get 55 cards?

Whoa, hmmm.
My left (west) side looks similar but my NE section with the loop seems different. I notice that you have several doors but I need to look those up again. I will need to do some real surveying to be certain after I get the thing roughed out.
However I too went with all 30' square rooms because no real scale was given.
I wonder if we put all this info together, will Rick at FBI let us post the notes to convert the solo into a DM adventure?
Thanks for the welcome folks.

Just for grins, here's my old map. Hmm... Does the print solo match up with the version that's online at the FBI website? I ran my uber-orc through the online version a couple of weeks ago and my recollection doesn't align with your map there, Porkbelly. Of course, my mental faculties have been called into question before so this is really no surprise. I played the character true to his nature and charged straight ahead always heading in direct lines when he could. He's a no-nonsense type of warrior so it's possible that I missed a turn or three... EDIT - Oh, by the way, that's a nicely drawn map, Porkbelly. What app did you use?

It does beg the question if there has been any revisions to Buffalo Castle over the years. My edition is the thin booklet with the cream covers. 81 or 82 I believe.
It would be hilarious to have traders hocking all slightly different detailed maps outside the three doors.

Hi, well I couldn't swear to accuracy in my map-making ability -- would love to see what your maps look like. That loop area was tricky, and I think the door there is a one-way.
My played edition is 10th printing, with the pink cover (1980). I haven't compared this to the online version (or the one from 5.5 book) but I would be surprised to find changes. The only completely revised version of Buffalo Castle I know of was published in the Japanese magazine Warlock #54 - which I would dearly love to find.
Prof, I did the map in Excel. I use that for most everything.
The room numbering should match those in the solo, I think the "Vault of Many Doors" is room 14 in the top left (unnumbered in the book). I now notice there is no room 16 on the map, hmm, that's a little fishy. Rooms 17-21 were the wandering monster rooms. The red dots should be corridor locations with WM. A thru G are various traps etc.

I made the original in Openoffice and, this is simply a picture of the map (which is all you need really). What do you reckon??

My stats were based on the map that i drew. As i went along, i took the stats for the adventure which were... Rooms... With 1 entrance: 5 With 2 entrances: 13 With 3 entrances: 1 Corridors... Straight: 14 T-Junction: 9 Crossroads: 5 90 degree turns: 1 Curves: 1 (but it's in 7 sections, so seven cards) There was also a total of 31 encounters (Monsters, Traps, Puzzles etc.) and, 12 Wandering Monster Encounters. There were also 28 treasures throughout the whole solo. I think i might have gone a bit overboard in my attempt to create a deck of cards, lol.

It would be hilarious to have traders hocking all slightly different detailed maps outside the three doors. Why can I see EXACTLY THAT happening in T&T? Shady guys stationed on the major roads to Gristlegrim, Dargon's Dungeon, the DED and so on, offering maps of said dungeons for only 50 gp a shot "and you'll make it back no problem, sir!" Is it a real map? Is it accurate? Is there something that should be indicated but isn't? Or is it a menu pilfered from Joe's Authentic Khazani Indian Takeout Restaurant? The envelope's sealed so the only way you'll know for sure is to hand over the 50 gp... Exalt coming your way!
