"Agreed, Quinlan. We should strike down before the enemy regroups. We have the element of surprise!" says Mahara-la.

Drugan gnaws on some horse tar-tar and looks contemplative.
"If we attempt a raid against our enemy it should be at night, that way our numbers are hidden and our chances of retreat if things get dicey are better"
"They will be reluctant to follow us into the dark woods at night"
"We should strike down their leader first, massed magical fire to take him down before he has time to rally his men"
"Then I can cast a terrifying illusion to scatter or demoralize the remaining men"
Drugan slices off another paper thin horse strip and chows down.
"Then we can press the attack if they are weak or if they are still strong and holding together we fade back into the night and hit them again later"
"They won't have either their leader or their sergeant ( Drugan waves his knife at the bound captives ) they will be without strong leadership, fractious & scared"
"However considering they are all heavily armed and armored I would advise against a frontal assault"

Poncho: "Ok, we press on ahead then. The bandits will be expecting the return of their comrades soon and may have already found the panicked horse that went on ahead.
"Perhaps if one or two of us (looks at Charles) take the horse and ride ahead slowly, slumped over in 'wounded bandit' disguise, we may locate the camp without being directly ambushed."

Charles stops tending to the captured horse and looks at Poncho.
"That may work. I should change into that extra suit of chain mail to complete the disguise, but I'm up for it. We might be able to lure a handful of the bandits in to help me and then the rest of you could launch an attack from the side of the road."

Mahara-la slips away from the group momentarily. For those of you succeeding in a Level 1 IQ test, you can learn the following: Mahara-la silently retreats to a nearby stream. There, the lithe female elf draws water up to her arms, drenching her forearms in the clear water. Close observers will notice faint scars etched into her skin. Those skilled in magic know these runes as magical spells! Mahara-la traces these skin imprefections with a neatly trimmed nail, and mouths the words in memorization. This elven witch has no need of a spell book- she uses her own flesh to transcribe magical meanings. The elf maiden undresses further, and the other intricate patterns appear on her hips and thighs. Once she seems to have made sure the scars bear accurate record, Mahala-la rubs river silt and dry dirt into her skin- she takes on a pale palor like when the heroes first met her. Mahara-la re-dresses and quickly and quietly rejoins the group...

Having decided on a course of action you head back towards the road. It takes you a while to notice that you have no idea in which direction it is.
Your tracks disappear after a few score feet and none of the surroundings look anything like you remember. The immense Mallorn trees tower oppressively above you, throwing deep shadows in the waning light and suddenly you feel very small.
[
A good idea, but it would not really be of any use since only the original author would be able to edit it. I think it's best if you keep track of it on your character sheet.
Sorry I've been MIA for so long. The holidays have been keeping me busy. I hope the game will pick up its pace once again.
PS: Remember that you are transporting four captives, two of which are heavily wounded and in no condition to walk.]

"Oh hell," Charles swears as he looks in all directions. Finally he pulls out his compass to see which direction north lies. Given their current predicament he immediately begins to wonder if taking prisoners is a prudent choice. He repeatedly looks from his compass, to the captives, to his dagger. OOC: Good to have you back Burke!

Quinlan: "How far are we from the Inn - can we take them back from some 'justice'? Failing that, if they've given up all they can - tie them to a tree until we return; if they end up food for a Deodand so be it..."
Quinlan looks to the bandits to see if the thought of ending up as deodand bait inspires them to reveal more...

Drugan leans heavily on the captives.
"Now considering that our fates are no inextricably intertwined perhaps giving us a few more details on your former comrades would be in order, hmm?"

The captives swear dearly that they know nothing more. Their fear of Quinlan's threat is palpable.
With the help of Charles compass you manage to find your way back to the road. It is several hours journey back to the Inn and it would certainly be dark, long before you reach it.
