Not as yet, but I agree that would be very valuable. I am currently on point for this project, but i have a wide lack of knowledge in many areas. My understanding from the discussion so far (and please correct me if I am wrong) is to 1) Produce a free to download magazine to be called Trollzine for the Trollbridge lulu page. 2) The magazine will focus on Tunnels and Trolls, but related material (fiction, stuff about roleplay , etc) may be accepted. 3) The writers of material are to retain their copyright on it but release use of it for the Trollzine - some form of creative commons licence would be valuable here. Guidance desired! What other points do people think should be included please? The only thing I suggested was guidelines for contributors.

In terms of type of material etc?
I have been pretty much open to the contributions that I have received, giving feed back to and discussing with contributors about their articles. As this is a zine that is to emerge from Trollbridge contributors i was seeing what would emerge from discussion and contributions.
The legal aspects have been examined more in the 'legalise this' thread.
What guidelines would you suggest kopfy. You have more experience in the publishing business than i do, so i welcome your input.

Is there a particular length of solo you're looking for in the Trollzine? Obviously a 250+ paragraph monster might be a bit long, but what would be a good limit?

Not especially worried at the moment. I'm guessing we would aim for about 60 pages all in. The solo submitted so far was 45 paras. If we received a good monster solo I would love to include it personally.

What would you folks feel about using material already posted to the Trollbridge? My main point in asking is that I have a slightly expanded version of my article on re-selling equipment that I could contribute... but the main part of it is available on the 'net, and it seems wrong to me (even if we're not charging money) to just re-package old info - kind of Shipmanish, if you will.

Ok, well a number of my articles are my musings on stuff here, that i have then polished up and presented better - Dare to Daro takes my ideas from a number of points in combat threads and then tightens them up. I have no problem with people turning Trollbridge musings into finished articles. Trollzine can in part be the best of Trollbridge IMO.

I would find it a great favour to have the best of material that appeared in Trollbridge threads, musings on Trollhalla, blog postings, etc cleaned and polished as articles in the 'zine. Obviously not without author's permission, and not as "filler" material, but it would save trying to search out the really good stuff.

If TrollZine is available on Lulu and maybe even Drivethru - it may attract the attention of players who have never considered T&T before and never visited the 'Bridge. Recycled material would surely be cool, particularly if tidied up and expanded a tad.

I'll admit I'm still a teeny bit confused why there seems no interest in selling printed copies of TrollZine. It's not as though making a profit is a bad thing. Indeed, all of said profit could be completely and totally redirected back into making TrollZine bigger and better (pay artists, etc.).

That means a bank account, money , someone setting up all those things, financial relationships with people, becoming a publisher.
If you want to go for it Machfront it has my support and I will gladly submit my articles to you.
As a not for profit promotional venture from what is a forum for chat, it is easier to set up and make happen. People will also more readily contribute stuff when they retain the copyright and you are not making money out of them.
Really i just want to write stuff. I took on editing the first issue because noone else was in a position to. I dont want to convert it to a small business, I have a job that pays me.

Well if it's something that's essentially a pain then I can dig it. That's why I was confused. Still, the issue of the authors retaining their rights wouldn't change, surely? That's the deal with Fight On! and it's a for-pay 'zine. Besides, money wouldn't be 'made off' them, as 100% of said money would be going right back into the zine itself. In fact, perhaps after some time/growth all contributers could be paid. If I knew the ins an' outs of such stuff, I'd certainly do it, were it the wish of the entire community, but I've no skill in that (or indeed any) area and it does seem everyone is entirely happy with it being a free pdf. I don't have a problem with that at all (though I'd love to see it in print, at least off Lulu). I was simply curious.

Perhaps it could be done as a not for profit print (ie, purely the print cost), but my understanding is someone has to pony up for the initial print, and i am not in a position to do that.
JJB set up 'No rest for the weary at war' maybe he can shed more light on that option.

Yeah I did do that. Before today, when Lulu pulled a bunch of T&T content across multiple folks storefronts, I had solos up on Lulu with Pay-On-Demand format. You could download the PDF for free, or pay Lulu to have it printed. No money went to me, it was purely Lulu's charge as if you were PODing some custom personal non-public content of your own. Purely non-profit. Having a hard copy is sometimes nice to have.
