Hi folks, The second edition of my super-simple T&T inspired RPG TunnelQuest is available here: sites.google.com/site/hogtunnels/tunnel-questIt is currently a bit messy and in a pre-layout state but all the text is in the right place and hopefully makes some sense. The first edition with better layout (thanks to iWork) is also at the same address. I might end up adding the free-form magic from the first edition to second edition as an appendix. Cheers

Great, I've GM'd using the previous versions and I've been impressed by the clarity and ease of play. Have an Exalt !

Instead of our usual weekly game I ran a session using TQ yesterday and the wizard players liked the new spell lists saying it felt a bit more High Fantasy than the freeform rules where they stuck to subtle magic with small effects (e.g. making an arrow fly slightly off course). Interestingly they didn't feel constrained by the spell lists. Me too, I had the big bad guy use Distant Memory on the party's wizard when he got split up from the others, et voila, instant sidekick until he came face to face with the party again.
They still argued about the skills - some of the examples seem broader than others (soldier compared to knife thrower, for example) but it wasn't a problem in play.

My word! Very glad to hear that things went well. I've had similar feedback from my players regarding skills - the idea was to present some possibilities to nudge the players into coming up with interesting selections themselves... The list hasn't really changed between editions.
I'm pleased the spell system worked well for your group. I found to my peril that the make it up as you go system is great if you have a player willing to adapt to that style but one of my players prefers to choose from the list...
My intention was for the spells to be fairly low-key though?

My intention was for the spells to be fairly low-key though? Yes and this shines through in the descriptions. What I meant was that before the players weren't pushing the limits of what they could do because they thought it would be too hard a spell (probably my fault) but the lists have given them a clearer idea of how powerful their wizards are. Also it's allowing them to specialise a little more and differentiate from each other. I'll do a write-up of the session.

Here's a critter from a (very) recent play test session. It's kind of a D&D umber hulk.
The Beetle Man The creatures is humanoid and about twice the size of a man. It stands upright on two muscular legs but has two pairs of upper limbs - one pair ends in pincers, the other in 3-fingered hands. Its head sports a pair of large snapping mandibles.
FR: 12 Armour: it has a shell +2 armour hits (5 in total). Multiple limbs: It can defend against 3 attacks per round (up to 3 attackers can lose hits on a failed roll). Doubles: on a failed doubled, the creature picks up an attacker (pinning it) and either hurls it aside (+1 damage) or drags it below to be eaten. Special: after taking 4 hits it will burrow below ground and flee on an combat roll of double 1. It inflicts one hit as it departs.
Most TQ2 critters just have an FR (like MR) and maybe one power activated on a failed double but this fellow has a few more tricks up his sleeve.
