It may have seemed the most appropriate forum, at the time that it was started. Where would you prefer it to be, Mach? Why are you asking him instead of me?I addressed the question to Machfront because he expressed the opinion that it was in the wrong place. I was curious as to where he thought the correct place would be.

So let me get this this straight.
You really have no idea idea why this thread is here, but you feel comfortable enough to respond to any question as to why it it is here? And at the same time time you cannot claim any responsibility for as to how the thread ended up here?
And whoever decided to move the thread is comfortable enough to sit back and let you answer these sorts of questions? Why are you asking him instead of me? I addressed the question to Machfront because he expressed the opinion that it was in the wrong place. I was curious as to where he thought the correct place would be. Wow.

I wasn't claiming knowledge, just suggesting a possibility. And I wasn't aware that it was previously in another part of the board - I don't keep that close an eye on where every thread is. I interpreted Machfront's comment as being that the thread had always been in General Discussion, rather than that it had recently been moved. My error, obviously. In any case, the relocation of this thread was not due to any action on my part. Perhaps I'm reading too much into your posts, but you seem somewhat upset or angry about my comment to Machfront. I'm not sure why that would be, so if it is the case, could you please clarify what it was that was problematic for you? Was there something in my post that you found offensive?

I'm not sure why that would be, so if it is the case, could you please clarify what it was that was problematic for you? Was there something in my post that you found offensive? First off, you are reading too much into my post I suspect that you feel you must label me "upset or angry" as to try to make me the antagonist to claim that I am attacking you. But a better term would "understandably annoyed."
I am annoyed firstly at having my topic moved away from an area where others were posting their houserules. As I liked reading others houserules I make a point not to reply negatively in other people's work in that folder. And to be moved without any notification as to why and how, which probably would not occur if it was anyone but me.
On top of the high-handedness expressed above, it's also the sloppiness of the move. The "General Discussion" folder is definitely not the appropriate place for a place to view my tuning and tweaking of 7th edition rules.
My annoyance with you is that you speak up when someone rightly out the "weirdness" of the move, you offer an opinion, which can be denied. Of course that other member quickly got in line and shut up quickly. And now your tactic of look I am not the who did anything, I am just the guy who raised his hand to say "I don't know the answer" just adds to the lack of transparency designed more to annoy me than enlighten anyone or resolve the situation..

I would also like to add that the only reason I swung in yesterday was to post some Hand-to-Hand notes that I and my group are playing with. I searched both the "Worlds" and the "7th edition" departments in their entirety I couldn't find this topic. All this searching helped me stumble across other developing issues that could use some input.
I gave up looking for and decided that I'd have to post a question about it in the "General Discussion" where someone would reply to PM somebody or another, who would then probably refer me to the next guy, who would inform the person capable of handling my request, as it was when I asked to first move the topic to the area that it was before this latest move.
In short, if the move's purpose was to discourage me from offering my opinions on important issues to this community, it had the opposite effect. If the move was not meant to discourage me, it had the effect of annoying me and would have been probably not noticed had the mover done it with half an ounce more thought as to where the topic should go instead of where it was.

In a spirit of amity I want to say
a) Some excellent house rules here, not all of them ones i would adopt but some great ideas. I also dish out spite as GM rather than letting the party decide. It does make them more careful.
b) The house rules range across a number of areas - rewards, character creation, spells, combat. Our current forum set up specialises house rules a bit more , so there is not an obvious topic for this collection of ideas. Would edition be an appropriate area? Perhaps if kopf could say where he wanted them represented it would help our volunteer moderator place them appropriately.

Kopf, I think every post from what used to be the general 'Houserule' sub-forum from the Gamming (with edition tags, please) forum has ended up here in general discussion. Well at least my post on WIZ/ST Houserule has. So, I don't think you (or anyone) is being singled out, but for some reason stuff has moved.

Umm...how did this end up in the General Discussion area? Weird. Here's the thing: I was looking though the different forum spaces here and found that one on House Rules only had a few threads in it, and I thought it would make sense to have fewer options in the main page so I moved those ten threads into the General section. If it was a bad idea, it's my fault. Sorry if anyone was offended or insulted in any way by my move.

And whoever decided to move the thread is comfortable enough to sit back and let you answer these sorts of questions? Yes. Mahrundl is my "Global Moderator" so that he can help watch things at times when I wander off. He has many of the Admin rights that I have and can speak for me when he wants. If I understand the workings of this board correctly, Mahrundl has the ability to create, move, or destroy posts and sections the same way that I can. To my knowledge he has never abused this power, but has been doing me a great favor in helping me run this board behind the scenes. In this case I made the move without asking anyone or informing anyone simply because I thought it was a good idea. I'm sorry that you are unhappy with this whole thing, but please PM me about it rather than unloading on others on this board.

Vin,
Plesae, disregard my inquiry in our PM as to where my houserules were. I found them, and I will have to agree with your new organization of a folder for "houserules" themselves. So let me get this this straight.
You really have no idea idea why this thread is here, but you feel comfortable enough to respond to any question as to why it it is here? And at the same time time you cannot claim any responsibility for as to how the thread ended up here?

In this case I made the move without asking anyone or informing anyone simply because I thought it was a good idea. I'm sorry that you are unhappy with this whole thing, but please PM me about it rather than unloading on others on this board. Taking this explanation at face value, this community's instinct to do everything through private messages, and moderators essentially playing aisle guards awaiting orders from on top, leads to situations like this.
If only on a practical level, here's my frame of reference. I, as Co-Owner of my own forum, with 1/3 the members but we don't use as well known a name as your forum here as its drawing point, and Chief-Administrator at three non-hobby related on-line communities, the moderators work with me, not for me. Well we're also very communicative with each other about our plans and up-coming changes, so everyone is working from the same play sheet. I say this because while in the end it is your sandbox, you are making your job harder when moderators feel that something must be said and are not able to say anything authoritative.
As this particular situation worked out, Machfront's question by itself, would have basically gotten a nod from me, and I would not been so annoyed figuring that an answer and situation resolution was on the way. Mahrundl's answer was not an answer at all and he made no offer to amend the situation. As a representative of yours, I am not inclined to shoot a letter to "the boss" if he wants to weigh in on something. That is where my criticism arises.

I did see a lot of familiar messages in other more appropriate folders, while searching for my own. But now I don't feel so bad knowing that it wasn't just me. I can just say it was work in progress where the hands did not want to know what each other were doing.

Honestly, it's probably just plain difficult to know what appropriate sub-forums there should be, let alone where something 'should' go.
Heck, just this sub-forum alone opens a can of worms by itself. What qualifies as a house rule thread? Most threads here about such an open game as T&T could be termed 'house rule threads'. What's not? Well, Hogscape's TunnelQuest2 is a different game, so it's not really a house rule and yet, it's here in this sub-forum. *shrugs* I've no answers either as I realize there is no easy answer. Just pointing out that, well, these things happen. Looking for some deep and hidden meaning is pointless. Though it is frustrating and could lead to a mess of the boards with regards to its general organization.
Oops. Sorry to clog up your House Rule thread, kopf, but it seemed relevant. (perhaps the discussion could be broken from this thread to another)

I'll be sure to point out the ones of yours that I find insightful.
b) See my other posts, and do not assume that I feel that I any sort of control of the content that I post here. Mostly because of situations like these.
I am done with the minutia, I'll be back in a couple weeks. That sounded harsh. I feel that I am spending to much going over points that have been covered. I need some iced tea as I have headache, because it took me a PM, and an hour of searching to find the new Houserules folder, before I could reply to anything. Not anybody's fault, and not needing any sort of resolution.

Moving a topic forward, and this topic is the perfect place to start the brainstorming to post as clarifiication for later.
"Most threads here about such an open game as T&T could be termed 'house rule threads'."
I always found being clear as to whether it's houserules or a different game helps. If the author states it houserules, assuming so until he says for the record says otherwise could be a guideline as to placement.

If I understand the workings of this board correctly, Mahrundl has the ability to create, move, or destroy posts and sections the same way that I can. Regarding my access, Vin: unless I've missed something, I can only do board and forum level stuff, as well as some of the global board settings. Not posts and threads, not changes to member settings, and of course I can't do anything with some of the more powerful global forum settings. (Actually, the combination of things that I can do and things that I can't is kind of weird...) I'll relay requests for such changes to you, in cases where people don't want to (or can't, as happened in one case) contact you directly, for whatever reason. That was always my intention. I don't see my role as policing; I see it as monitoring to try to keep things running smoothly when you're not around (insofar as my access allows). As far as I'm concerned, this is your board, Vin, and I'm not inclined to go around changing things at my whim. Pretty much every change that I've done has been at the specific request of one or more members, and mostly with your explicit approval (usually in advance, occasionally after the fact). I don't think that I should have any more rights to decide the board structure and so forth than any other member here. Just to clarify.
