I never thought I'd find a useful electronic device that I could use at the game table but here it is... An 'app' for the iPhone or iPod Touch called DiceShaker. You just dial up the number of dice required, shake the iPhone, you hear a nice rattle and the app delivers the dice total and individual die results so you can see Spite damage immediately. You can't add a fixed value for combat adds but it is a great time saving tool. Oh, it's free too! ;D Does anyone else know of other iPhone/iPod apps that might be of use? Cheers

Bento. It's a lot easier if you've got a Mac to load the data. I've got a Bento Spellbook.

Does anyone else know of other iPhone/iPod apps that might be of use? Nope, sorry, nothing for the iPhone/iPod series. My tech tends to run a couple generations behind. There is a neat little freeware app that I've been using for my Palm. It's called DieRoller. You can pickup v. 1.5 here: www.warmfuzzy.com/palmos/default.htmIt will let you specify the number of dice, number of sides as well as show you the individual results and total them for you. If anyone is interested, there's a neat little game for the PalmOS called Pocket Dimension. Imagine a 10 level 3D maze solo with monster encounters and traps. It's rather fun. Here's the link: www.pocketdimension.com/ If I hear of any iPhone/iPod apps I'll be sure to pass them along.

Thanks for the heads-up Prof.
Quog, I spotted the Bento App at the store, I'll definitely pick that up (and regular Bento) in June when I finally replace my missing Mac. I used to have a monster database on Bento 2 but never used it in play - now that there's a Bento App, I can!

Calculators are about as far as I go!
It's getting rough because my characters are getting to be pretty high level, but we're all pretty fast at it these days - counting dice, that is.

I note with some bemusement that the Pocket Dimension site has a game called Shippy1984...

I noticed that myself, mahrundl. I chuckled and kept going.
Hey, while we're at it lets talk Old School for a moment - does anyone have any suggestions for a Win 3.11/DOS 6.22 system? Uh, let me rephrase that as 'doorstop' isn't what I had in mind. Does anyone have any gaming related apps that would be useful for such a system? I use mine to keep notes on during a game session and thought that I might be able to expand it's functionality.

Lots of old Traveller software that runs on that generation of machine...
The original Campaign Cartographer runs under DOS. It was pretty clumsy interface-wise.

knights-n-knaves.com/downloads/ Some DOS aids there for AD&D and Call of Cthulu. There used to be some Battletech ones there too but those seem to have vanished...
