Drugan stumps forward.
"Alwyn see if you can learn anything about the ruins, you've a far more pleasing way with words than I"
"I'll accompany Charles and see if my less inviting manner can further loosen our captives tongues"

The sergeant has come to and is receptive to the idea of sending one of his men back with a message for Neptune. Other than that he is a mean old bastard and refuses to cooperate or divulge anything.
None of the merchants at the Inn are slavers and are thus not interested in purchasing your prisoners. Chet reminds you that he wants you and the prisoners gone in the morning. He is afraid of reprisals from the Black Brigade.
An old drunk regales Alwyn with tales of the ruined city. According to these myths the city was built by men of great magical prowess and much of that knowledge is now lost. A group of immortal warriors, called the Dragon Knights, conquered the city and laid it to ruin with the fire spewing forth from their eyes. Some say that the Dragon Knights still wait in the ruins, ready to pour their wrath on whoever dares set foot in there.

Alwyn tries to find out how long ago this was meant to be, and whether there are any stories of specific individuals entering the city.

Quinlan: "If the Dragon Knights still live, we'd best tread lightly. And bring huge sacks for the mountains of treasure we'll be draging out. Huzzah!'

Drugan gets a cunning glint in his eye.
"If we decide to not go to the ruined city, we could always "Accidentally" let it slip in our interrogation that it's our destination and maybe the fearsome denizens of the ruins will take care of the Black Brigade for us"

Alwyn agrees enthusiastically with this idea (if/once he's in the room to hear it).

Quinlan: "Enough of this says I! My boots yearn for travel and my purse for treasure; let us make haste to the ruined city and plunder its wealth befor it's looted by lesser men!"

"Indeed," Charles says in agreement with Quinlan. "I will go to the ruined city with Quinlan. If these merchants will not stand up to the very men they sent us against, I say we let the brigands go in the morning. I don't know about you others, but I'm not here to save the helpless. I'm considering joining up with the Black Brigade myself. Seems to be a well-respected outfit."
"We can dispatch one of our prisoners tonight with the message if you like. But ff we awake to find ourselves under siege, I have not doubt that the merchants will toss us out on our collective asses."
OOC: The game seems to be stalling here. Let's take a vote on what to do next. I say investigate the ruined city.

Quinlan: "All those for the ruined city say aye!" Quinlan cups a hand to his ear in a theatrical fashion...
"Charles, you don't need to join, the Black Brigade, what we need is a name of our own. No unnamed group ever gain a reputation for good or ill... Put your thinking helmets on friends; by what name shall our band be known?"

Drugan shrugs.
"I'll follow, to be honest these merchants have done nothing to endear themselves to me"
"Let the silk rot for all I care, the cowardly dogs won't even stand up to bound prisoners"

Alwyn favours trying to lure the Black Brigade into the ruins by trickery, then seeing whether this leaves them easier to take on. For example we could send one prisoner back with a message, challenging the leader to come and take the rest back and saying we'll be in the ruins. Meanwhile we and the rest of the prisoners could head in another direction, coming back later to see what's happened.

To the ruins, I say. We can take the bandits and let them go their own way once we get there.
