It is soon!
But my Mac is in hospital and it's the only thing that can read the hard drive where all my files are stored...

Dude. Didn't you just get that Mac?
But, yeah, reformatted (and with larger font) for 6x9 Lulu hard and soft covers. Mmmm. Tasty. I'd bet if you put the call out for folks to donate art, some would answer.

Question: Should I merge Dark Isles with me 4E rules or keep them separate?

Yes... got and broke it. They're tough but they only bounce so high. Oh. Yikes. Question: Should I merge Dark Isles with me 4E rules or keep them separate? Tough call. The rules are awesome. But, Dark Isles has hella flavor. *collating.........processing.........* Error Re Enter

Personally - I'd say mix them together.

I think you can have it both ways, say by using sidebars to present the setting-specific info. That way it's clearly annotated.

My only concern would be copyright infringement issues. If it was for your own table-top usage I'd say, do whatever works for you and your group. If you were going to post it for download - that's a harder call. Keeping the 4th ed. text and adding Dark Isles in sidebars may work but, just to protect yourself, you may want to clear things with Ken and Rick. If they have no issue with it, I'd say forge ahead!
Having the setting specific info in sidebars gives you two games in one. Alternatively, you could do section appendices, i.e. each section has it's own appendix with Dark Isles info and setting differences. I only mention this because you have a fair amount of info for Dark Isles and it might be a touch squished in sidebars.

I'd suggest keeping it simple by keeping the ruleset and Dark isles separate. At most, I'd go with Gaptooth's suggestion and include the Dark Isles material in sidebars. Still, I'd much prefer each best on their own.

How can there be any? The text isn't fourth edition's. It's Hogscape's. Rules cannot be copyrighted. Only their presentation. It's not fourth edition anyhow. It's a pretty different take/houseruled T&T-ish game. Add another person's words and presentation and it is, for all intent and purposes another game entirely.

Hey, I'd never try to charge for Dark Isles and my take on the ol' 4E...

The text isn't fourth edition's. It's Hogscape's. I understand what you are saying, Machfront. I only meant to be consistent with the belief/attitude that we, as a group, have adopted in regards to Ken's and Rick's creation and copyright, however that falls out at this stage. Since I have never seen an actual copy of the T&T 4th ed. rules I have no basis in which to compare Hogscape's presentation of them. So, I offered my opinion. That's all. Of Dark Isles, I have no reservation. That is wholly Hogscape's creation. Some of us here, and most likely in Hogscape's real life, have offered thoughts, concepts and even play testing, in the end it was Hogscape who wove it all together into a conceptual whole. While I am not a lawyer, and certainly not versed in copyright law, it would seem to me that taking bare bones mechanics and weaving them into a wholly new setting and flavor text would constitute a new game. I am just not educated enough in this field to be able to say where that line is in any given product. If we want to hash this thought out further, perhaps a new thread should be spun off as it's a broader reaching topic than this current thread encompasses.
