Language Thread - MR 63 Special Ability - Distraction, activated on sixes. Anytime a six is rolled as part of the Language Thread's CPT the delvers must make a L2SR on Int or be distracted by shiny objects or small tree-dwelling rodents. Any delver failing their SR will have a zero CPT on the next round.

For those who may be interested, I was looking over the Ballad of Robin Hood on Gutenberg.org and the difference in language is really eye-opening: I only bring it up here to show that language shifts over time and that as long as the reader can understand what is written the communication between author and audience has succeeded. I think we have a much easier time with the Trollszine considering that the spellings between UK English and US English are rather minor compared to the difference between Middle and Modern English. Just one gremlin's opinion on the matter.

I tried reading some "untranslated" Chaucer once... I gave up after the first few lines.

Chaucer's not so bad. Just repeat after me: "Cap'n , the engines cannae tae the Strraainne!" Now go read Chaucer.

Try Beowulf in the original...
It is purportedly the oldest written work in English. Having seen the manuscript in a museum, both the letter forms, and the words do not seem much like English to me...
