I like to draw my own maps. I completely understand. There's just something organic about how drawing out the map begins to build the story of the land in your imagination. From there you begin to wonder which influences the map which in turn changes the story... It wouldn't do for me to be surfing the web, looking at pre-drawn fantasy maps, while attending a project meeting... I would think it would all depend on whether your laptop was the one connected to the projector or not... "Now up here in the corner are the Par Avian mountains where dwell the NoSase Ogres. If we really want to save the company some money in our direct marketing campaign we can outsource our mail orders to the NoSase." ;D

A little something that's well worth reading (if you have time) regarding development of societies is Jared Diamond's Guns, Germs and Steel, which can provide ideas as to how civilizations might develop in certain geographies. Of course, Diamond didn't figure orcs into his strategies ...

I actually have a couple books I got from Writer's Digest a few years ago that cover "World Building" for science fiction novels. A lot of detail, of course, but very interesting stuff.

Just to let our excellent group of artists know, I have a solo from Ken St Andre - Four Jugs of Mead - for TrollsZine 3. If any artists would like an advance viewing of this with a quid pro quo of doing some art for it, please let me know.

I must say "Sorry" for I have not yet written my article for TrollZine III! I had planned to have it done before the deadline for TZ II. However, I shall get myself in gear this week and bash out a couple of articles in my series, thus getting myself "ahead of the curve" so to speak and whatnot.

That would be brilliant Darknight, but i would not stress as the closing date has not been set yet! It will not be before the end of May at the earliest. I look forward to reading the next part of your guide.

Just a reminder. If anyone has a written article committed for TrollsZine 3 and I have not yet had it, please let me have it as soon as you can. I will be away on holiday from the 12-26th June, so that reduces my time for editing.

Just to say all the written articles are in (except my editorial - I will have to harass myself for that one). I have a number of volunteers for copy editing and lots of artwork - at least some of it related to the text . Any more artwork , especially tailored artwork, gratefully received still. Due to my holiday it will all go quiet on my count soonish. I hope to return , reinvigorated, and then overload the ever patient Quogmyre with TrollsZine 3 to layout.

Not so much minion, more partner in crime (twirls Fu manchu moustache with one hand while stroking a cat with the other)
