Alerah will check it for traps before pressing an ear to it to try and determine if there is anyone beyond it.

Bernard ducks around the corner and motions his comrades forward.
The he will carefully advance up the passageway and begin checking the door for traps or signs of recent use.
If nothing untoward is in evidence he will listen at the door and see if he can hear anything from the other side.
OOC: What kind of door is this?

Amblur will stay at the ready and guard the party's rear in the main tunnel.

Cona dn Alerah check the door, it is wooden, 15' high 10' wide and has a latch rather than a handle or knob. Neither of them can see any obvious traps or mechanisms.
When they listen at the door they hear low gutteral snarls, what sounds like something wet being ripped, squelching noises, and gulping.

Bernard visibly blanches and quickly returns to the group.
"Um, it sounds like something, large, ferocious and very defiantly carnivorous is ripping something....or someone to pieces in there"
"Whatever it is on the receiving end must be dead already"
"The door is latched in place, what say I go and jam the door good and tight so it won't be able to come after us once we've past?"

'Last time i heard noises like that, it was trolls, two of them. I reckon we can take two trolls... Besides, it's not exactly queensbury rules to not come to the aid of a poor soul in need... That has gold... Or valuables, with which to reward us. Now, just because our victim is probably dead, i'm sure they wouldn't want us to leave empty handed... After all, it's the thought that counts'.
Alerah nods her head in an effort to re-assure the others but, she does get the impression no-one quite buys it.
'Well, how about we look it this way. If there is gold behind that there door, wouldn't you rather get your hands on it rather than leave it to some smelly dungeon dweller?'

Bernard shrugs and turns to Con.
"Well if your dead set on seeing what's behind that door I suggest everyone with a ranged weapon or some spells stand back and lets fly as soon as the door is opened"
"Of course we should all creep down the hallway nice and quiet so as to take the beastie by surprise"
"Anyone without something to cast or throw can take up a defensive position in front of the ranged crew.

'Hmmm, well said'
Alerah readies her sling in anticipation of what may be beyond the door.

"I'll go first," Amblur whispers, and hefts his swords. "I have to try the new sword."
If no one stops him, Amblur is going to take point and try to sneak through the door to surprise whatever is on the other side.

'Well, you know i'm always with you Amblur...' Alerah places her sling back at her belt and then draws her blades.
'One more i think. One more fine strapping man' Alerah looks back among the party.

Adiemar looks around at the group, then shrugs, "Guess I'm comin in too? Don't have any spells or stones to throw." The rogue readies his sickle and buckler, and follows suit behind Ambluer and Alerah.
Alfaomas takes a position with the rest of the spellcasters, mentally preparing a TTYF for whatever may lie ahead.

Con will set his staff and be ready to unleash sorcerous destruction and Bernard will ready his Atl-Atl and prepare to let fly.

With a torch in one hand, Bendyss stands by the door, lifts the latch, opens, it and presses himself flat against the wall as Amblur, Alerrah, and Aidemar rush into the room followed closely by Con, Bernard, and Alf. The room is a large 20’ by 70’ rectangle and you almost run right into the three occupants.
They are strange creatures indeed, man-like in size and form, but their skin is see-through, allowing a clear view of all their internal organs. They are feasting on what’s left of an orc. Ripping the flesh from the corpse with their clawed hands and noisily scoffing down the lumps of its flesh, which you can see make its journey down their throat, towards their stomachs.
They abandon their current feast and charge at you howling and gibbering leaping straight into combat with Alerah, Amblur, and Aidemar.

"Huh. Amoeba-men." Bendyss shrugs, and hurls a wave of sorcerous flame at them as though he considered this somewhat anticlimactic. [TTYF, no overcasting or any of that]
Amblur brightens immediately, like a child on Christmas morning, "Hey, you can see exactly where to stab 'em!"
