I had an interesting thought this AM when I looked at the "Members" list and clicked on the part where you can look at the members sorted by top posters. There are 16 Trolls who have posted more than I have.I think that's a sign of the success of the TrollBridge, because I don't need to constantly "seed" topics or continually post in order to keep this place active. (As opposed to my Amber boards where there are maybe 3-4 active posters and if I don't post in a month there is basically nothing new when I check next. I've been on a lot of boards where 90% of the threads are started by the admin and others just react, and those boards tend to get kind of stale in a hurry.) In the case of the TrollBridge, it's good that others continue to keep this place alive since I know that my interest in T&T will rise and fall from week to week like the tides. I know that I've drifted away for weeks at a time and mahrundl has still been keeping an eye on the place and everything is good. That doesn't mean that I shoudn't post more. Clearly I'm a slacker. I just wanted to applaud those who have been so active! Thank you!

Having posted more than 11x more than me over a similar period I can only hint at who the true slacker is. Have an exalt for a fine board. I know that's what you are fishing for anyway

On another board where I'm a member, I'm the top poster with over 16k posts. The next on the list is the administrator with about 10k.
I got that through playing the forum games, and driving those. Out of about 150 members overall, 20-30 are active on the forum, and about 10 are active in the forum games. Games like "Ban The Poster Above You" and "Last One to Post Wins" are fun, but we've done a number of others, like "Verbal Tennis", "Ongoing Story", "Free Association", etc. I've toned back my posting rate significantly, but I'm still active.
One of the more fun games we play is Forum-Werewolf. I've tried to introduce it here, but have gotten no response whatsoever.
Perhaps one way to increase traffic is to set up a "Forum Games" section. Tailoring some of the common games with a T&T-style theme wouldn't be that hard to do.

I just wanted to applaud those who have been so active! Self: "Hi, my name's ProfGremlin and I'm an avid role-player." Group: "Hi" Seriously, though, Vin, thank you for putting this 'board together and giving us a place to play. With a little investigation, it appears that the TrollBridge is coming up on it's 5th birthday next month. In internet years that's a solid presence (Anyone know the calendar year to internet year conversion?). Hmm... maybe a special mention in the Trollszine?

Have an exalt for a fine board. I know that's what you are fishing for anyway Actually, one of the things about being Admin is I can give myself an infinite number of EXALTs, so I don’t really need to fish for ‘em. On another board where I'm a member, I'm the top poster with over 16k posts. The next on the list is the administrator with about 10k. I got that through playing the forum games, and driving those. Perhaps one way to increase traffic is to set up a "Forum Games" section. Tailoring some of the common games with a T&T-style theme wouldn't be that hard to do. But those aren’t the kind of posts I’m looking at here. Most of the posts here are more discussion-driven and less fluff. On my OD&D board I turned off the post-count for any posts in online games, and I probably did that here as well. Also, my OP was applauding the level of traffic we get already, not a plea for more. I think we do just fine. Who are these base scoundrels who dare outpost our founder! Here’s the “scoundrel” list as of 10 AM on June 9, 2010 (and yes, Toad-Killer-Dog, you are on it! mahrundl, Hogscape, Machfront, Toad-Killer-Dog, zanshin, ragnorakk, order99, apeloverage, Fenris, jongjungbu, quoghmyre, cartomancer, ProfGremlin, Mhegrrrim Skulltosser, skathros, and danhem. Maybe I’ll just ban the whole group for two weeks so I can try to catch up.

On my OD&D board I turned off the post-count for any posts in online games, and I probably did that here as well. I looked and realized that some of the online games had "post count" disabled and others did not. I tweaked the software and that has now been corrected. It has always been my intent to count "discussion" postings only.

It would certainly give me the chance to catch up...
If we do "forum" fluff games (as you call it), I would recommend that they be done with a T&T-style theme... I don't participate in any of the online adventures because I don't have the time to read and digest the posts, but I would participate in something that lend to long posts, required participation, etc.
On the other hand, I like to write creatively, and sometimes the online fluff games can be designed to encourage this kind of creativity.
Either way it's your call - this is your baby, not mine. I'm just glad you have the gumption to actually keep and maintain this. It really is appreciated.

His welcome what? Ugh! You're a jerk. ;D But for making such a mistake, I suppose I do deserve to fall on my patookus, or at least take the comically over-sized mallet to the head.
