This thread is for the purpose of posting Errata for my solo, Final Exam. Being my first solo, I managed to miss a few things. In addition, as people play the solo, we're bound to find a few things I missed during editing.
General notes:
1. Each page turn in the hallways constitutes 10 minutes (one turn) of time. Unless you’re dealing with a wandering monster, this means you recover one point of Kremm
2. However, you can’t just stand around in the hallway and recover naturally. Each turn you do, you should roll to see if a wandering monster appears (2 dice – if you get a 7, then one shows up)
3. You are allowed to use combat magic against wandering monsters. However, if your spell does not kill them outright, they get their full hits of damage on you. If you use a spell in combat and you do kill them, you should still roll their dice and adds to determine if you take any spite damage. The corridors are too narrow and dark for you to be able to kill them at range.
4. All rooms and tunnels, unless otherwise noted, are dimly lit with faintly glowing gems that give off a small amount of low-level magic.
Specific Errata:
Paragraph 47F - where it references "W14", it should read 35C
If anyone has any questions, comments, or thoughts regarding Final Exam, feel free to post here.
Also, if the board administrators see fit, we might want to create a new sub-board under Resources, and move this thread to it. Other authors can also use the sub-board to post errata and answer questions about their solo's or GM adventures.

Pretty slender errata for such a gigantic solo. Awesome.

I wouldn't be surprised that there are other issues to be found, though I did work very hard to make sure it was correct. I triple-checked all the hall and room links to make sure the dungeon is properly map-able, and I got some great feedback from the playtesters (listed in the credits).

Just a bump - I'll be adding some more errata to this page when I get a chance, but someone else is looking for it.

Important Anouncements
#1: "that company" has added Final Exam to their catalog and is offering it for $16.00 per copy. Their plan is to buy Final Exam off Lulu at my price (of $12.95) and re-sell it. In order to prevent my book and my reputation from being tarnished by association with "that company", I have changed the Lulu price of Final Exam to $99.95. At best, he will be able to sell no more than 1 or 2 copies (of which he already owns) before he will be forced to pull Final Exam from his catalog. If you want to purchase Final Exam, please contact me directly, either through here, through Trollhalla, or through Lulu-mail, and I will sell you a copy directly.
#2: Thanks to the feedback I have received over the past year, I have made a number of corrections (including those listed in this thread). Very soon I will release the 2nd Edition of Final Exam. Anyone who orders a copy from me will get the new-and-improved edition.
Thanks!
- Sligo

I'd suggest keeping an eye on it, Sligo. Photocopies are easy to make. Would it be worth hijacking OP's mailing list and send out your announcement?

I don't have his email list. If anyone does, I would appreciate the help... Not to mention, including me as a "bcc" in the distribution...
G'Noll on the 'Walla suggested that in my new edition, I clearly put the price of the book on the cover. Not only will it be there, but on the back cover and in two locations on the inside. Also, each page will have my name and the name of the book in the footer so he can't pull any other shenanigans with the new version.
I don't want the over-price trick to backfire, so it will only be out there until the new version is published.
Also... Just a thought... I wonder what would happen if someone orders a dozen copies from "that guy". I know that he doesn't have more than a couple copies in stock (I've officially sold and distributed 25 copies, of which most are accounted for) which means he'll need to order more copies to fill the order. If he's not paying attention, this could be rather costly! Then, that someone who orders those copies rescinds their order, "that guy" might get screwed over!
Of course, the profit I'd get for selling 10 copies at about $100 each, I'd take and donate to a worthy cause, because it wouldn't be right for me to personally benefit (maybe this money could go to the legal fund to sue "that guy" for his mis-deeds...)

I don't get where he has a market. Everyone knows where to get it at a cheaper price. ie. Direct from Lulu. Putting the Lulu link in the footer would make it difficult for him to sticker over.
Are you sure he's buying from your Lulu page? He hasn't scanned a copy etc...
Best get in touch with the host - again - and have the site taken down - again.

Dekh, he's not "hosting" - he's using a direct email catalog in PDF format. 2nd edition will have my retail price printed in 4 different locations throughout the book - front cover, back cover, and two pages internally. His advertising says that he buys and sells without cracking the plastic, so if he does sell 2nd edition, his customers will be made aware of his shady business practices.
If he scans and copies the book and sells it, I believe it would be criminally actionable. I still haven't heard back from the lawyer guy in my company, but I don't expect to hear back from him soon anyway - he's pretty busy with company business as it is, but I do think he will eventually respond.

It looks like the "newest" site was taken down finally [or at least it is prompting for a password now. This is good, I had sent off the info to Rick back in Dec and he sent out the takedown notices to the hosting company. But of course now he is just trying something else. I'm sorry that you are now caught up in his web Sligo! LIke Dekh says I can't imagine he'd be able to move many of these since most people should know where to get them directly. [I'm going to buy this one finally this year also ] -Mike

Here is the email I got from James after I asked him to not sell my book: ---------------- Hello Scott, Yes, I am indeed re-selling Final Exam. You might never have heard of it before, but its called Capitalism. If I want to go buy copies of Final Exam from Lulu at your FULL PRICE and re-sell them again at a much higher price I can do so and I have the legal right to do so. Most of my buyers have never heard of Lulu, or dislike people from Trollhalla, so they are happy to buy from me. The funny part is I'm probably making more of a profit from Final Exam than you are. Of course you could always raise the cost of Final Exam sold at Lulu, but I've already stocked up on extra copies, so that would only hurt your sales, and help mine. Isn't Capitalism in America great? -- James ------ According to Lulu, I've sold a total of 25 copies. I bought 7 myself, and most of the others are accounted for by people who've reported to me they bought a copy. I can't imagine that he has more than 2 or 3 copies at most. All I can say is ~~~ we'll see what happens.
