Since I have the 7.5 box rather than the 30th Anniversary Edition, I had never seen the Alternative Rules Fiery Dragon produced for that edition. I asked about it on Trollhalla, and then I decided to contact FDP directly to find out how the game differs and how to get a copy. Jason wrote back and sent me the PDF. Then he sent Ken a copy, which is currently available at Trollhalla [see the sidebar links).
I've looked it over, and it's an interesting set. I think the movement rules might help give me a way to introduce T&T to the "D&D Encounters" group I run with, since we've been using minis for combat. The way the spells have been shuffled is also curious, and the simplified weapon charts are tempting.

yeah its a different game and certainly not a stand alone game as a set of the normal T&T rules would be needed or at least knowledge of regular tunnels & trolls as stuff like monster ratings isnt explained at all
i didnt like that there is no combat adds and so a fairy with a strength score 4 wielding a fairy sized sword would do the same damage as a human with a strength score of 18 wielding a full sized sword...
also the armour giving a dice roll amount of protection rather than a set amount(eg.leather armour 1d6 protection)
and with weapons like daggers and clubs being 1d6 weapons what would an unarmed attack roll (again with no combat adds a punch from a fairy would equal a punch from a human or dwarf maybe?)

Is the generic login, Aackthooie (sp?), still accessible? I rarely check in over there as the format just doesn't work for me. I know there was some discussion of disabling that login as it was being abused by a few individuals but I have no idea on how that situation developed.
I'll have the deep-fried battered pixie with balrog dipping sauce and a Hobgoblin ale.
