I think we're on the same page regarding expectations: It's crystal clear in the fiction that these guards don't carry any weight (not even with other guards), but 'Nasan has to play with the hand that he's dealt, so he's hammering in one nail at a time, even if the nails are rusty.
It's also a lot better to be seen going through the fortress willingly attended by guards who think he is a leader, than to be dragged around in manacles. Much better first impression.
I definitely don't think that he's going to get himself elected as chief of security by these guys. Since you hadn't posted anything about Hrruuukkk Ptui yet, and 'Nasan only heard the name in passing, part of the purpose of the last speech was to probe the guards to find out if there were *any* legitimate authority figures in the fortress. Proffering his willingness to take charge was an irresistible follow-up for Aonghasan though (smirk), especially if he could do so in a way that made them think it was their own idea. Obviously, if the leadership situation was clear, he wouldn't pitch a fit about it.
Even if the trio had left the tower a few minutes before 17:30, they still would have run headlong into the crush of goblins and trolls already being commanded by Hrruuukkk Ptui.
I'm totally cool with that-- with your blessing, I'll edit my last post to indicate dialog-on-the-run. [That way I don't have to try and think of an action for him during the 17:20-17:25 half-turn that would be meaningful without disrupting everything else that's been posted.]
Cool-- I made some minor changes to my last post. If 'Nasan gets himself arrested doing this, I'll tell my wife to go ahead and have the baby since that sounds like a good time for me to take a week off.

I'm coming clean on the maps. Between 'Nasan and the rest of the party, you've got a pretty good idea of how things are laid out now. Don't hesitate to ask questions if you're not sure what something is on my maps.

Sorry to hear Dr. Rotwang is currently unavailable. With things heating up in the fortress we could certainly send Pan and Herman down to the lower levels to deliver the letter and keep them out of harms way; that is, if they can avoid Seagal. As far as the posting schedule goes, I'm fine with a reorganization to MWF. I know I'm typically busy/wiped on the weekends and even if I do remember, I frequently end up lacking sufficient energy to be creative.
I'll have the deep-fried battered pixie with balrog dipping sauce and a Hobgoblin ale.
Sorry all not to have posted before: I realized after coming back from my trip that a lot had happened since I last did post something. So I kept trying to find a reasonable laps of time alone to read it all and contribute to the story, but the more I waited, the more I had to read, and it ended up in a vicious circle...
Anyway, I just wanted to write that I had a blast. I was at first angry at Gaptooth to have parted with the group, leaving the bulk of the troop without a wizard (which would be a very bad move in most delver's books), but I have to say that after reading 2 weeks worth of posts, his part is the one which thrilled me the most! But I don't want to diminish the other's contributions: the game is going in very interesting directions overall.
All in all, let me tell you that the game is very different from I was expecting at first (as hinted in the latest post for Owynn), but it is for the better, and I really appreciate to be part of this fine story among fine people! EXALT to you all to put this spark of imagination in my sometimes dull days!
Oh, and welcome Werrrdna -- I hope you have fun with us.
