Verner (Human Warrior lvl 1 Att: 3d6+3 Def: 26 Con: 10/12 AP:147)
Verner leans further in to get a better look at the latch.
"Well, we could tie a rope to the latch and pull it from here in case the door is trapped?"
Genzo (Were-Wolf Warrior lvl 1 Att: H - 3d6+4 W - 1D6+17 Def: 0 Con: h- 12/14 W - 24/48 AP:106)
Genzo turns to Ozmenton.
"Ozmenton, do you think you could hit the door with an opening spell from here where its nice and safe behind Verner's shield?"
"That metal door makes me think of electrical traps and I'm not eager to lay my hands on it"

Ozmenton moves his chin up while answering to Genzo: "Of course, such a spell is but a triviality to me. However, the door seems to be enchanted twice, so it might not be easy to open it magically. Any other suggestion before I try to cast it?" He pronounces his last sentence while turning to Falcnor, and looking hesitantly and very briefly at Elethiran.

Falcnor (Dwarven Wizard lvl 1 Att: 4d6+20 Def: 8 Con: 16/16 Wiz: 13/13 AP: 417)
To Ozmenton: "Hold a moment. If th' door is magically protected, wouldnae that be th' sort o' thing it would be protected against? Look. Stars in th' sky - Star on th' door. Perhaps th' name of this star is th' password that opens the door? Know ye the name of this star?"
Actions: Falcnor searches his knowledge of astronomy. Does the star on the door represent a particularly bright or well-known star? Falcnor asks Ozmenton to do the same.

Falcnor knows of one bright star that is used to direct travelers to the north. In the common tongue it is called Polaris. But who knows what these people call it?
Verner investigates the latch. There is a simple pull handle with a flat lever above that can be depressed.

Falcnor (Dwarven Wizard lvl 1 Att: 4d6+20 Def: 8 Con: 16/16 Wiz: 13/13 AP: 417)
Falcnor says "Polaris" at the door and waits to see if there is any type of response - a click, the star glowing brighter, or some other obvious reaction from the door.
Actions: If the door gives any sort of reaction that is non-hostile, Falcnor will try the latch.

There is no obvious response from the door at Falcnor's utterance of the name 'Polaris.'

Falcnor (Dwarven Wizard lvl 1 Att: 4d6+20 Def: 8 Con: 16/16 Wiz: 13/13 AP: 417)
"Weel, nae sae lucky on th' first try then. Ozmenton, you bright lad, d'ye ken th' name of th' North Star fer these fine folk?"
Falcnor racks his brain for the name of Polaris in the language of these people. [OOC: I'd like to do a INT SR here as a knowledge check] He asks Ozmenton to do the same.
Actions: Racks his brain.

Falcnor, Ozmenton, and Elethiran rack their brains to think of the name of the star in the forgotten language of this lost civilization. (Level 4 SR on IQ, Falcnor rolled 9 gets 36 AP, Ozmenton rolled 4 gets 16 AP, Elethiran rolled 6 gets 24 AP). Despite their best efforts, none of the wizards can come up with the name.

Verner (Human Warrior lvl 1 Att: 3d6+3 Def: 26 Con: 10/12 AP:147)
Verner scratches his chin.
"Hmm, Clud old bear let me borrow one of your leather gauntlets to wear over my metal one"
Once the exchange is done Verner turns to the others.
"I'm going to try the door everyone get ready to back me up in case something.....interesting is wait ing on the other side"
Verner advances on the door and if nothing happens before he gets to it he will open the latch with his shield held before him.
Genzo (Were-Wolf Warrior lvl 1 Att: H - 3d6+4 W - 1D6+17 Def: 0 Con: h- 12/14 W - 24/48 AP:106)
Genzo looks askance at Verner.
"All right just be careful"
Genzo will ready his war Bola for a cast past Verner if anything should appear.

Verner slips on the leather glove and steps up to the door. He cautiously grips the handle then places his thumb on the lever. After feeling no electric jolt or other harmful magic he tries to depress the lever and open the door, but he is unable to budge either.

Verner(Human Warrior lvl 1 Att: 3d6+3 Def: 26 Con: 10/12 AP:147)"Um, it's locked, heh" Verner declares sheepishly. Genzo(Were-Wolf Warrior lvl 1 Att: H - 3d6+4 W - 1D6+17 Def: 0 Con: h- 12/14 W - 24/48 AP:106)"Thats what you get for trying to show off Mr. "Stand back Ill do it!" ;D "So mighty mages do you think it's a magical lock or perhaps another riddle like the room of gods and the shifting hall" Genzo: will attempt to spot any obvious patterns in the configurations of stars on the walls. Verner: will examine the walls, floor and ceiling for trapdoors, switches, buttons or other unusual features.

Elethiran (Elven Warrior-Wizard lvl 1 Att: 2d6+9 Def: 11 Con: 8 Wiz: 12/12 26/36 Point Makeshift Staff AP:519)
"Did anyone try knocking?" asks Elethiran. "You never know, they might be reasonable types who are happy to chat with merry adventuring types like us."
She looked about. "Though we do fall into the description of the 'kill them all and take their stuff' Brigade, mind."
Actions: If no one else has tried, knock on the door.
Clud (Were-Bear Warrior lvl 1 Att: 3d6-6 Def: 16 Con: 10/10 Wiz: 11 AP:361)
Clud is happy to lend a gauntlet. He instead looks along the walls for some kind of switch or latch.
Actions Search for a way in, maybe some kind of catch or keyhole set into the walls rather than the door.

Falcnor casts his spell at the door (Costs 2 WIZ, earns 2 AP). There is an audible click that echoes down the hall followed by a bellowing voice that shouts, "ENTER!"
Verner and Clud search the surrounding hall for any triggers, traps, or latches, but come up empty.
Other than the amazing similarity to the night sky he'd camped beneath for so many nights, Genzo notices no other pattern in the painted stars.

Verner(Human Warrior lvl 1 Att: 3d6+3 Def: 26 Con: 10/12 AP:147)"Hmm, seeing as we want to befriend these mages and only a wizard could open that door perhaps a mage should reply to their summons?" Genzo(Were-Wolf Warrior lvl 1 Att: H - 3d6+4 W - 1D6+17 Def: 0 Con: h- 12/14 W - 24/48 AP:106)Genzo cocks (c.o.c.k.s. as in tilts to the side, come on it is not obscene ) his head and considers. "Well it should at least be some one in less warlike raiment than Verner, they might mistake him for a Gromite" "I wonder if the mages are all male or of mixed sex?" "If we send Elethiran they might take her for a warrior maiden, although as far as we've seen their are no elves or dwarves in this benighted place" OOC: We could send Genzo at least he's dressed in a robe? Elethiran, Falcnor or Ozmenton are the genuine article, but I hesitate to send anyone forward alone. Maybe Genzo and a mage with the rest ready to charge to the assistance if needed?
