Hello everyone!
I, Sligo, aka W. Scott Grant, am in charge of TrollsZine! (ack ack!)
What have I gotten myself in to? This remains to be seen.
I officially make the committment for 3 issues - #4 (in progress), #5, and #6. If things go well, I'd be willing to go for a couple more, but since my Tarot-card-reading days are long past, I have no clue what the future will hold.
Much appreciation goes to the team that produced the first three issues, and the work that has gone in to #4 thus far. You guys have done a fabulous job - not just the editing, layout, and publication, but all the contributors and supporters... and even the critics! You (we?) have all worked together to produce an excellent publication that is dedicated to and supports the game we love. Let's hear a round of applause, or better yet, a standing ovation!
Will there be changes? Of course. Change is inevitable. But I've mentioned before (privately, I think) that my focus will be on supporting the game of Tunnels & Trolls, as it was and is envisioned by Ken St. Andre and the others who have worked so hard to keep it alive, intact, and true to its core roots.
I want to especially spotlight and promote the creativity of our community - artwork, articles, solo's, fiction, GM-adventures, and supplements. Everyone has something to offer in some form or another, and I truly hope that you all submit and offer something to an issue of this magazine.
Those of us who might have aspirations of greater glory in the world of publishing will know that having your work featured in this magazine is a stepping stone toward that greater goal. Even if your dreams don't involve becoming the next J.K. Rowling, Christopher Paolini, or J.R.R. Tolkien, you should know that we support your efforts.
We will do everything within our ability to respect your intellectual property rights. With this in mind, we will only use material that has been submitted expressly for the purpose of publication in TrollsZine. It will only be used once (unless specific permission is provided otherwise), and all rights of said material immediately revert back to its owner/originator upon publication. We do not claim first publication rights, but they are preferred (exceptions will be handled on a per-item basis). Also, we will only accept submissions from the original creator of the material - no 2nd/3rd party submissions. If there is any question about an item's source, it will simply not be used. Period. This could potentially include modifying an already-published issue to remove it.
I look forward to working with all of you. I truly hope that what me and my team produce is at least 90% as good as what has been done so far. The bar has been set very high, and it will be a true challenge to reach it. I have created a new Email Address specifically for communications regarding TrollsZine: IndySligo@Comcast.net. I also created a Comcast ftp site, but since this is password protected, I will only provide you with the information to access if needed.
Thank you all very much for your confidence in me, and your support.
Sincerely,
Sligo (aka W. Scott Grant)
