Was cleaning out some old boxes in my closet when I came across these gems. Does anyone remebers these combat game books. I know FB still offers themfor sale, but I don't here much talk about them. The four that have are.... Zzzz... Zombie Umslopagaas The Scorpion Wizard Chiron Magical Centaur (pictured) and Bith Female Cleric. I rember these being fun games around the gaming table as we waited for the other players to show up. Attachments:

I remember these well. There's a only a few I didn't manage to collect and then of course hardly ever got a chance to play. Didn't really like the later additions with the tactics cards but all the characters were interesting.
Without caring a whit about play balance I always thought this would make for a good play by forum game. A big multi-player showdown along the lines of Lew Pulsipher's bar-room brawl from the early WD days.

There was once a yahoo group that tried PBP. two people would choose their characterbooks and choose their attacks, and a moderator would determine the battle outcome. He would then inform the players and what new batle choices they were allowed to make for the next turn. Unfortunatley the moderator disappeared sometime durring the fourth week (turns were weekly) and never heard from again. This was a few years back and I doubt if the group page is even around anymore, but PBP for lost worlds was an interesting concept. The only problem is that the moderator would need to have a copy of just about every book.

Way back, I had a couple of these, including the orc book. It'd probably make a good phone app or Steam game if someone had the copyright and coded it up.

Next time I place an order with FB I'll try and get a couple. I recall my friend had a couple, a female warrior, and a skeleton (who I think had a sword). Quite innovative for when they were published.
