Some of you may recall (or not) that a while back i was planning on doing a Tunnels and Trolls edtion built around the Diablo II RPG released by Wizards (not that i'm much of a fan of Wizards of the Coast but, they did a pretty descent job of it, minus using AD&D as a template).
To cut a long story short however, i've being pawing over the old rulebooks of late, inspired by just how easy it is to convert from D&D (which speaks tomes for the flexibility of T&T more than anything else) and, then prowling** the net i came across a reference to the quick-play version of the game (that i'd heard referenced in the rulebooks but never actually seen... Which Wizards are still hosting!
Having had a quick flick over the rules, i have to say that they actually make a far better framework for a game than the full release ever did justice and, best of all, the whole thing runs on the humble D6! To kick that, it's also rules lite and comes with a mini GM adventure!!
At the momment i am strongly considering putting down my conversion idea and, putting this together as a more complete stand-alone RPG using the material in the original rulebooks.
Check it out and let me know what you guys think.
** I realise at this point i am begining to sound like the CArTOMANCER.
I do have a copy of the box-set and all of the associated books that they released after it and, there is a fair bit of good material in them that would port well into T&T (which i'm sort of doing but, trying to use as much as i can directly from the game itself). Might even be able to post some up soon but, given the EPIC power of characters in the actual PC title (which i'm mostly working from) i may have to scale quite a few things down.
I agree with you there BSB, when i play Diablo i am certainly reminded more of Tunnels and Trolls than D&D for it's "feel".
