The battle continues to rage in the dining room.
Roz screams "When God made you, He broke the mold. Mostly because he ran out of LOSE and FAIL!" (Roz does 6 points of spite damage, takes 29 damage. Orc's weapons continue to corrode)
Hrruuukkk Ptui continues to fight heroically against the ogres and orc guards, but continues to absorb punishment from their superior numbers. (HP does 66 damage with 1 spite, takes 9 hits)
Seagal is like a whirlwind on top of the table, slashing with his katana like a brickbat. (Seagal does 96 damage with 2 spite, takes 9 hits. His martial arts defense is 7 this round)
The orc captain battles on against his former subordinates, still shouting for them to stand down. (Orc captain does 34 damage with 1 spite, takes 15 hits)
Despite their efforts the Effing Ogres and the orc guards continue to punish their former leaders. (Team Aonghasan puts up 294 damage with 7 spite.)
Just as the battle reaches a climax of violence, Salazar steps into the room. In his most commanding voice, he thunders "What in the name of Og-Balu ith going on hewe! Theathe and dethitht at onthe!"
However, the enthralled orc guards are unable to stop and the Effing Ogres are unwilling to, forcing Seagal, Hrruuukkk Ptui, Roz, and the Orc Captain to continue defending themselves.

[GM comment: This is all happening while 'Nasan is innocently washing up. Nicely played. Since this is all NPC's interacting here, I will continue to post a round-by-round detail of what happens as time permits until I catch up with Aonghasan.]

Seeing his lieutenants in peril, Salazar spits out a word that sounds like a curse and a jet of purple and black fire shoots from his hand killing one of the ogres instantly.
The other ogre and the orc guards begin to fall back against the renewed onslaught from Seagal, the Goblin Overlord, Roz, and the Orc Captain. Effington struggles in vain to get loose from the chair as the battle rages around him.
(Team Salazar did 204 damage with 14 spite. Team Aonghasan managed 187 damage with a measly 1 spite. Since the orc guards are well armored, only the spite damage tells in this round.)

Salazar once again speaks a word of power and another jet of dark flame drops the other Effing Ogre. The four lieutenants press their attack against the cornered orc guards, now inflicting real damage.
(Team Aonghasan does 103 damage + 1 spite. Team Salazar puts up 175 damage with 8 spite.)

Snaga is the next to fall to Salazar's vile harm spell and the remaining three orc guards quickly go down under a flurry of sword blows and hurled insults.
The echoes of steel on steel and Roz's final biting words still hang in the air. Salazar stares at his subordinates in disgust as a noisy death rattle escapes the last orc to fall. All but Effington are bleeding and bruised from numerous injuries.
The Master taps his foot, his arms akimbo. "Well?"
[Bookkeeping: Aonghasan takes 328 general AP for the four orc guards and two ogres. Also guaranteed a share in AP for the four lieutenants, since they are very badly injured and Salazar is not in a compassionate healing mood right at the moment.]
Just as Aonghasan finishes searching for magic, there is a soft tap at Effington's door. The door opens just a crack and a voice begins to whisper urgently through it. Aonghasan is unable to see the face belonging to the voice, and presumably the speaker is unable to see 'Nasan.
"Lord Effington; I am Che Guevara, one of the guards. I know about the plans you have to overthrow Salazar - Fear not! I want to help you. Over the last few hours, I have been meeting with others who, like me, have grown tired of Salazar's tyranny. Our army will soon be assembled in the south guardroom. You can identify us by our red bandannas. Our password is "Thlay Thalathaw." We await an audience with you to swear our loyalty to you."
As Aognhasan rifles through Effington's wardrobe, he grimaces a little: "Ugh, earth tones."
At last he finds a once-manilla-colored blouse that must have gone through the wash with a red sock-- now flamboyantly pink --hanging pressed in the back of the cabinet, and an indigo cloak, the mark of Jevanna's service, almost identical to his own. Taking off his own silk shirt, he tears it into strips and uses it to dress his wound, before wrapping the remains in a bindle made from his own muddied cloak, which he hooks to the harness near his belt pouch. After fitting his armor, he puts on the clean cloak, fastening it with his own dragon-claw clasp, and pulls the hood forward.
Suddenly a low thud shakes the ceiling, and Aonghasan smiles-- perhaps it's the sound of an ogre smashing Seagal through the table's heavy, polished timbers. Then another whopping thud wipes the smirk away. There are, after all, two dark wizards at hand, and Aonghasan's efforts have gone awry before.
'Nasan freezes when he hears the tap, and stands silently as Guevara appraises him of this new information. Before the door closes, he whispers "Carry on."
Aonghasan quickly examines Effington's work area for anything of interest, stuffing the portrait of the feeble human into his bindle. Then he listens at the southern door, creeping out once satisfied that the way is clear. Here he listens at the door across the hallway [the southwest room in the quarters hall]. If he hears nothing to alarm him, he opens the door slowly and peeks inside.

Resplendent in his new attire, Aonghasan quickly rifles through Effington's work area. One desk drawer is locked, and the rest contain nothing of interest - ink, paper, files of minutae dealing with the daily operation of the mines. Afterward, Aonghasan checks the room to the south. Hearing nothing within, he cautiously opens the door an peers inside. The room is dimly lit, dank, and cool. At the south end of the room is a cluttered workspace. A large government-issue gray steel desk sits in front of an array of filing cabinets.
The north side of the room is dedicated to living space, apparently for Roz. The floor is covered with damp earth and wilted cabbage leaves. A large rotting log occupies the northeast corner of the room.
[Bookkeeping: 'Nasan regains 1 WIZ]

Aonghasan finds himself back in the throne room. It is still unoccupied, and things look much as they did before. There are two doors in the north wall and a door in the southeast corner leading to the tower.

In the dining room, everyone starts to explain at once and the shouting becomes quite loud.
"Thilenthe!" yells Salazar. "Theagal, why have you bound my motht valuable thubowdinate?"
Seagal briefly summarizes the events of the afternoon - the attack on the gate, the strange elf claiming to be a spy allied with Salazar, the search of the mines, the inquiry, and Effington's obvious role in the conspiracy.
"I know nothing of thith thpy, Aonghathan. Cleawly, he ith an unwanted intwudew. Yet he bwought to light thith howwible conthpiwathy againtht me. If you find him, bwing him to me. He may be able to fill an impending vacanthy in my owganization." This last with a meaningful look at Effington, who is still helplessly stammering denials.
"Effington, you theem to be having thome difficulty with youw thpeech. In the patht, youw voithe wath ath cleaw and compwehenthible ath my own - like the thongth of thpawwowth, even. Evidently youw shame and guilt fow youw mithdeedth hath dithabled youw tongue."
Seagal, Hrruuukkk Ptui and Roz all remain stonefaced during this statement. Long experience with Salazar has taught them that he is completely oblivious to his own speech impediment and reacts angrily to any implication that he is difficult to understand.
He turns back to the others. "Now, thewe ith much to do. Theagal. Thewe awe intwudewth in the mineth. The thquad you thent hath not wetuwned, tho we can athume they awe alweady thlaughtewed. Take all of the wemaining guawdth and deal with them quickly. I doubt that we have to wowwy about a diwect attack on the fowtweth - the enemy ith alweady within. Take Hwwuuukkk Ptui with you and have him wally the wetht of the goblinth."
Aonghasan listens at the door to Salazar's study, examining the lock for a magical aura. If the lock is mundane and there are no signs of life in the room beyond, he touches the lock with his staff and utters a spell to open the way.

The click of the lock seems loud in the stillness of the throne room. The door swings open to reveal a walnut paneled study. Though there are no windows, lamps are burning low in sconces on the walls. Aonghasan enters through the south door and sees two other doors in the room: One leads north to the dining room, the other east to Salazar's bedchamber.
Loaded bookcases line the walls around most of the room. Aonghasan recognizes dozens of tomes stolen from the Occult Lore Library. Thousands of other books are loosely arranged into subject areas, and the loremaster recognizes significant works in engineering, metallurgy, alchemy, chess, mathematics, demonology, politics, history, military strategy, and biography.
A desk made of dark cherry wood with two deep drawers sits in the southeast corner. In the center of the room is a low sturdy table with a heavy iron bound chest on it. The chest has a sizable lock, and 'Nasan can also detect the magical aura of a spell surrounding it. A few comfortable leather reading chairs dot the other corners of the room.
Whatever his other faults may be, it is clear from the comfort and utility of this room that Salazar highly values learning and knowledge.
[Bookkeeping: 'Nasan gains 10 AP WIZ for the spell, and regains the point of mana he just burned.]
