I signed up to play-test Ilkor, an on-line RPG game based (amon others) on Tunnels & Trolls and illustrated by our excellent Ramsen Triton!
It looks good so far, though I didn't notice immediately that you had to click on "Core Features of Ilkor" in the banner at the bottom of the home page to get the basic information.
There are many things I like in the basic mechanisms of the game: - a solid campaign setting with detailed maps (how I wish we could have that for T&T!!) - 4 'base' classes, each branching out into 3 unique specialist classes upon your adventurer reaching level 5. - The possibility to have a stronghold at level 10 and an animal companion at level 15 - Glory points in addition to XPs - Last but not least, it's a free game, with no hidden costs, adverts, spamming or reselling of your personal information
P.S. "Dark Rising" does sound a bell? Wasn't it a campaign that some T&T fan wrote?

Thanks for the kind words about Ilkor: Dark Rising (http://ilkor.com). ;D I'm the founder of Gad Games and we are developing Ilkor. We're a small team of friends trying our hardest to produce a professional on-line turn-based fantasy RPG that is going to be free to play. I was so happy to see you highlighted what we feel are the key components of the game. The very core and structure has been designed around some very fundamental game system decisions for the golden era of gaming. We have purposely gone for a simple system, keeping the choice of both race and class small. We looked back to the 70's, 80's and early 90's and decided on a more retro approach to our game design. If you're interested in hearing why we went this route then drop me a line and I'll be only too willing to chat. We are really hoping to attract a good number of playtesters to help us. If you are reading this and interested then contact me or go to ilkor.com and signup, its quick, easy and obviously totally free!! Cheers, Sean.

If it is, it was a complete coincidence.
I played T&T back in the late 80's and throughout the 90's and don't remember anything like that.
I've only recently got back into T&T and ordered a brand new 5.5 boxset which arrived yesterday!!!
It brings back such fond memories.

Dark Rising was the name of a solo in Trollszine! 2. Perhaps that is what people are remembering?

I'm really pleased to be involved with Ilkor. The GAD team are great to work with and have lots of great ideas. I hope the game will be something really special when it's completed.

And of course, a conversion into Runequest would have to be called Duck Rising...

Greetings Fellow Trolls! I'm the designer for Ilkor: Dark Rising, an online text-based Fantasy RPG that is loosely based on the T&T ruleset. Hope you don't mind me mentioning my game here however I thought some Trolls might be interested in hearing about the progress we have been making of late. Development of the game is really starting to hot up now. We're a small team (3 developers), doing this in our spare time and will be offering it for free. No ads, no catch, nothing. We just want to try and use our tech and gaming skills to produce a high quality game for everyone to enjoy. Besides the three of us, we have an artist and a cartographer on-board. Both artists are doing some amazing stuff. Recently we also recruited the first Ilkor Gamemaster, hopefully there will be more coming in the pipeline soon. We really want this project to succeed and in doing so become part of the gaming community. We want to get as many people involved. There is a place for everyone, GameMasters, Players, story tellers, etc. We're building into the system various levels of GMing and the same goes for players. Maybe you just want to play the game, but some people might want to become a 'player scribe' who is someone that constructs and composes entries for the game's wiki ( Gazetteer of Arcadia). Oh, and one thing. You might have come across games similar to Ilkor where they are free to play, but you have to pay for in-game advancement in some shape or form. Ilkor is going to be different. As a player, you won't have to pay for anything to succeed. Eventually we do plan on charging for merchandise and the like in an attempt to raise cash for the continued game development and of course the running and hosting costs, but you won't need any of these additions to play and you most certainly won't be at a disadvantage if you don't. We are still developing the game but are open for potential players to signup now and be placed on the playtest list. If you are keen on doing this, go to the Ilkor website. We also try and tweet and blog as much as possible to keep everyone up-to-date with regards to our progress. Feel free to follow us and by all means get involved, ask questions and lets here your comments. Twitter: @gadgamesBlog: Ilkor DevelopmentFacebook: Gad Games - IlkorIf you think this is too much like spamming and / or is not in the right forum here then please let me know. I really don't want to annoy anyone. Cheers, Sean. PS. I've attached a low res image of a thumbnail map of the Caledon Region. The World of Arcadia (which Ilkor takes place in) is made up of 5 regions (continents). This thumbnail will drill down to a high detailed map. The full detailed world map is slightly over A2 in size. All these maps are hand-drawn and the mapping engine will then zoom in even further to a 2D grid (overhead), using tilesets designed by the same guy (Jon Roberts) that has produced our illustrated maps.

Hey guys, [Ilkor: Dark Rising:- For you trolls not in the know - This game is based loosely on the T&T ruleset. It is a game that is currently being developed to be played online through your browser for free. It is something that I've been passionate about for a long time and have been plugging away designing and developing Ilkor now for over a year.] Another quick post. The game development really is moving at a swift pace. There is alot happening each and every week. If you are at all interested, then you can do a number of things: 1] Visit the Ilkor: Dark Rising website and signup for the beta playtest for free. 2] Pop over to our blog. We try and post at least weekly. Today's post talks about character creation including a screenshots. 3] Our wiki, Gazetteer of Arcadia is a great place to learn more about the game setting and background. Our GMs are actively adding content each week. Cheers, Sean.

Considering the multiple threads for Ilkor with a single post in them and pretty low read count, all the Ilkor threads have been consolidated here.
