Are players okay with the GM taking care of the dice rolling? In the PBPs I've been involved in it seems to help keep things moving along smoothly rather than having to wait for everyone to roll the dice themselves and then post the results. Pace is slow enough in PBPs as it is and I'm keen to try and make the story as fast-moving and interesting as possible. Any worries about this, please let me know below. Otherwise I'll start putting up character generation information in the next few hours!

Looking forward to seeing what you all come up with!

OTHER INFORMATION:Height and weight I'm leaving up to you - either roll using the rules or pick for yourself using the rulebook as your guide. A brief physical description would be nice, as well as a paragraph or two of back story explaining how your character came to the Faerie Isle. One other idea I'd like to try - I'd like every PC to have a secret. This might be something quite trivial or a major factor in their lives (though nothing too game-breaking, please - e.g. not "My secret is that I'm first in line to the Imperial Throne" - then I'd have to send the Trolls round... ;D) I'm hoping this might add a little colour, and maybe give me something to hang a plot-line off at some point... For obvious reasons, please PM me your character's secret. Character names I leave up to you, (though if I may make a heartfelt personal plea - nothing too silly please! I'm all in favour of humour in the game, but my pay-off with stuff like this is I get to immerse myself in another world for a few hours - which is a little difficult if you've got characters like Master Blaster the Dwarf running around. (I kid you not, a player once tried to name his character this... )) Sorry. I've been left brutally scarred by past players who've delighted in taunting me with 'comedy' character names and the wounds are still with me... I'll deal with equipment in a separate thread which I'll try and put up later today. And if you can find a picture that might be a rough approximation of your character, that would be brilliant!

Very nicely done, devadasi! Great picture!
I'm coming up with slightly different numbers on a couple of your characteristics, however. Leprechauns add half again to LUCK and DEXTERITY.
You rolled 4, 4, 1 on LUCK - total 9. Half = 4.5 (I round the .5's up), therefore 5.
9 + 5 = 14, so 1 point down on what you've made it.
But you more than make up for it in DEXTERITY. Here you rolled 5, 5, 3 - total 13. Half = 6.5 (.5's round up again), therefore 7.
13 + 7 = a very tasty 20!
Your combat adds are: Strength: -5 Luck: +2 Dexterity: +8 Total: +5
And in missile combat you double DEX adds, giving you a pretty murderous +13!
Is that okay with you? Gives her a bit more punch when things get nasty.

DoctorX, I find myself in a bit of a quandary. The dice as rolled provide for an IQ of 7, that's 3 points short of the minimum to cast a first level spell. Could we consider a house rule that would allow me to bring him up to the minimum?
My suggestions: 1) Use DARO. To be fair, apply this to everyone's rolls. 2) Trade points from another ability(s), 1 for 1. 3) Swap two ability scores.
It's perfectly conceivable to play a fairy mage without the ability to cast spells but it rather nerfs the concept. A fairy rogue won 't be much better which leaves a warrior and, while possible, will be just a tad ineffective. Better find a mount early on and a nice lance...
I suppose we could call him an apprentice who was sent out into the world to 'catch a clue' and will be welcome home for training once concepts 'click'. With 5th ed. advancement that puts him into 4th level before he'd be able to cast a first level spell.
Any suggestions or should I simply consider a different character concept?

I sympathise with your problem, profgremlin! Not a fan of DAR0 or attribute swap, (though I'm not ruling them out) but I may have a solution. Please check your private messages...

OK, my character, de Morsac, a human male warrior (hey, someone has to be), will use this house rule to increase his charisma I know, I know, that is a bit vain, but de Morsac likes to be flamboyant, which is hardly possible with a CHR of 8... De Morsac, a noble-born young tracker, is from the free city of Khamad, in the southern part of the Dragon Head, on the western shore. For some reason, he defines himself as a tracker, not as a warrior. If he had a talent, that would be, guess what?... tracking, or maybe "wilderness survival". He used his moderate wealth to buy a scimitar (those are very common in Khamad), a madu, and leather armor. De Morsac is neither bright nor lucky, but he's still young and, eventually, might learn

Ruby is a leprechaun. She has formerly lived in basement crawlspaces, cobbler shop closets, a hollow log and a pumpkin patch. But she finds the life of a wanderer provides her with more of what she loves. Red things.
She dresses in red velvet, though it is often spotted with cobwebs or possum fur, depending on whom she shared a den with last night. She wears a tall (but crooked) wide brim pointy hat nearly as tall as she is. Her ruby slippers are actually beaded with glass, but she wont tell YOU that, and she DOES click them together when she winks.
Ruby is fond of fire, and sometimes by blood as well, but more than anything, even gold, she likes rubies.
