Okay, brief ponder over regarding Leprechauns and Fairies. (Thanks for the different threads, ProfGremlin!
See how this grabs you...
Re-reading what I've written in House Rules about Leprechauns, I'm struck by a certain - randomness about them. They live their life according to the toss of the coin, the roll of the dice...
...In short, with a large dose of Lady LUCK.
So I'm thinking LEPRECHAUNS power their spells by LUCK rather than STRENGTH - and given they multiply their initial LUCK score by 3/2, that should give them a pretty respectable power base to build from. They still gain spells as ROGUES, though. They start the game with Wink-Wing, (LK cost 5) and must purchase any other spells they wish to use, if they can find someone to teach them.
FAIRIES are the heart and soul of magic. (Like the rulebook says; "Logically, no creature built like a fairy could fly - it must be magic.") I reckon their power is less conscious, more innate and comes from the soul.
So - Let's say FAIRIES power spells by their CHARISMA - which, at x2, lets them pack a heck of a potential punch (but no moreso than Dwarfs).
But I am going to rule that both Fairies and Leprechauns must meet the IQ and DEXTERITY requirements to power their magic: Being an arcane power-battery is all very well, but you still need the strength of mind to bend that power to your will and the sleight of hand to prevent it turning your or your friends into toads...
What do you guys think?
